Whale Watch Scenic Flight in Kaikoura

The pilot was very skilled and everything went smoothly from takeoff to landing. Although we didn't see whales this time, we did see dolphins and a school of fish. I also find it very fun to see the scenery of New Zealand on the plane. The plane is very noisy, but you will be provided with headphones, so the pilot's explanations will be smooth and you will not be unable to hear anything. We look for whales together and communicate with whale watching boats at sea so they can detect marine life. It’s easy to fall asleep on the plane because of the buzzing sound and the refraction and sparkling waves on the sea surface, so everyone takes a nap. I can try it again next time, it’s very fun! After we got off the plane, someone helped us take pictures with the plane. The airport staff told us that we were sorry that we didn’t see any whales, but that this was a decision of nature, and of course we thought it was okay~

It was a great flight experience. I saw groups of dolphins. Although I didn't see sperm whales, it was great to see the scenery of New Zealand on a small civil aircraft. We were lucky enough to spot the spermwhale during our flight, it was appeared that the same whale surfaced twice during the 40 minutes flight. Although it was a bit high up, but we could still see the whale movement clear enough.

A wonderful experience, the pilot is experience and patient, he stayed in the air longer than expected for us the see the whale for 2 times, and with an added bonus of seeing pods of dolphins. Thoroughly enjoyed the flight.

The flight was well planned to coincide with the timings of when the Whales would surface. Both we and the group before us managed to sight whales.

They are very passionate about whale hunting. We saw a lot of dolphins. But please make sure to bring motion sickness pills. That way you can take good pictures. The pilot is very passionate and gives great explanations.
