Sarawak Cultural Village and Semenggoh Wildlife Centre Tour in Kuching

The guide Saini is friendly and knowledgeable. The cultural trip allows us to understand the Sarawak culture better and deeper understanding of the tribe daily activities. This day trip combines the cultural village and orangutan observation which is better for travellers with limited number of days in Kuching. We are lucky to see 4 orangutans. Ruby the orangutan who didn’t appear for months came to the feeding platform. We also saw a young orangutan, Sem, who is old enough to venture out on her own away from her mother. It is advisable to bring portable fans and mosquito repellent as you may stand in hot sun for a couple of hours. There is a washroom at the orangutan observation area. You can choose not to take electric buggy ride and walk from entrance to observation area. Some parts are uphill which may be challenging. We opt for electric buggy ride as we have elderly and children with us. The orangutan shown in the picture is Ruby.

Highly recommended attractions when you are at Kuching. At cultural village, I get to taste the tribes traditional sack and dance between the bamboo poles! The show was nice ended with a traditional lunch. We get to taste dishes like umai, terung assam soup etc. The semmengoh was a unforgettable place for us as we get to see 4 orangutans; Alvin the dominant male, a mother with a baby and a young orangutan. It was a lucky day. Thanks to our experienced guide Mr Saini ! we had a wonderful time 👍

We requested Chinese tour guide. Both klook and the tour agency helped us arrange it. He is local people and enthusiastic about their culture. Really nice. In terms of the spots, performance at culture village is nice. Visiting lived aboriginal buildings is impressive. It’s such a brilliant idea that let aboriginal live there, keep performing their customs, and earn money at the same time. It’s super hot. Be sure to bring water with you. Besides, visiting orangutan center is interesting. We are very lucky to meet “old lady” in person. Sometimes, they won’t come out from the forest as they are wild.

I had such a great time. It was an eye opening experience at the cultural village getting to know about the history. it was a beautiful place. the wildlife centre was also amazing, we got to see 6 of the orangutans! it was a long queue to go in and jam packed due to the holidays but Mr Yusof pulled through and got us in quick! Hes such a fun and friendly guide, keeping us entertained throughout the whole tour. He's really informative and full of knowledge, we learned lots from him! Highly recommended tour and guide. The process was easy and straight forward.

The Cultural Village was very interesting and educational but you’d need to ask the staff questions to find out more about the lifestyle of the people. It could be also that we were there just at opening and the staff were just getting ready. The show is a must and do be punctual as they start right on time. The tour to the Wildlife Centre was short as it was to coincide with the feeding times of the orangutans. You may want to let your guide know if you want more time at the start so he or she may cater time for it.

interesting to visit their cultural village. Able to spot an orang utan in ther wildlide centre although its not a certain chance whether they will come out of the jungle.

Yusof our guide was very knowledgeable on Sarawak culture, the different ethnic groups and he is well versed in all things Kuching. Speaks excellent English & very friendly. Made the entire tour very informative & entertaining. We enjoyed the cultural village very much, especially the 11.30am show. The orange utans at Semenggoh Wildlife Park were a delight.

The tour guide is very enthusiastic about introducing a lot of background knowledge and will try his best to answer any questions related to Malaysia. In the cultural village, he saw many local residents’ lifestyles and venues, as well as freshly made snacks (for a fee) and a dance performance before eating. It’s very exciting, you must see it. I saw four orangutans in the afternoon at the orangutan sanctuary. I heard that some people went there on the same morning and didn’t see them, so it depends on your luck. It’s very hot during the whole day, so you need to bring sunscreen.
