Guenpin in Tokyo - Puffer Fish Specialist

All the rooms here are private, offering great dining privacy. I previously ordered the crab course, and this time I had the blowfish course. The meals were quite delicious, and the staff was extremely friendly. Even with the language barrier, they tried their best to show me how to enjoy the food at its best. I will definitely come back next year.

At 12 pm, popular shops already have a bunch of people lining up. At 12 pm, they arrange for those with reservations to be seated. There's a group of people outside without reservations who have to wait. After the server introduces the reserved set menu, the set menu I ordered was natural pufferfish, select 7 items, natural awakening only available at designated stores. They quickly served pufferfish skin and pufferfish sashimi, as well as deep-fried cooking methods. The pufferfish sashimi was dipped in homemade sauce, which had more flavor. The main point is that the pot and steamed rice are cooked by someone. These two are the main things to eat. The server's attitude was very good. I think everyone can try it once.

It was my first time eating puffer fish. It was a relatively tender and elastic fish. Someone would help cook it. The entrance was in the alley.

I got the Daigo set. I was super full by the end of the meal!! First it’s lots of fugu, in the form of sashimi, boiled, and fried! Then they give you a lot of rice for the porridge. My favourite was definitely the fried fugu - it was like a chicken nugget mmm. I also enjoyed the boiled fugu in the hotpot, since it made it very soft! Otherwise I wouldn’t say the service nor quality is special, but if you’re looking for some fun fish then this is fine!

The food was okay, and eating pufferfish was definitely exciting, but it was a bit expensive. I was also disappointed that the portion of the wine I ordered was very small, and the service wasn't as good compared to other Japanese restaurants.
