Osaka Sagano Romantic Train and Hozugawa River Cruise Day Tour

This was by far the best Klook tour I’ve ever been on! My husband and I absolutely loved our guide, Mr. Joe. He was incredibly kind and provided clear, detailed information about the itinerary, meeting point, and drop-off location. We especially appreciated how he shared interesting history about Osaka, Kyoto, and Nara along the way. His English was very clear, which made communication easy and enjoyable. We were also lucky enough to ride Cabin No. 5 on the Sagano Romantic Train, and we didn’t miss out on the Hozugawa River boat rafting experience either. It was truly a memorable day! Okani Mr Joe! Hope we meet again!

I was not able to attend the tour after a fall, so Hubby went alone for this day trip to Arashiyama with Yu Jin on 14 Apr. His feedback as follows: “It was a very good trip. Need to thank Yu Jin for the entire trip. First he was very informative on the romantic train. In the bus, he informed us that we need not be worried about the view regardless of where you sit. This was very good as I do not need to move to different sides of the train to take pictures and video. Next he provided us with sufficient guidance on where to go on Arashiyama from bamboo grove to Tenryu-ji to the Monkey park. With the guide, I know where to go. This was because I always thought of only the bamboo grove in Arashiyama. Finally Yu Jin also provided info on the Japan culture. This was real educational. Overall thank you Yu Jin. Really enjoyed myself.”

Very impressed with both the guide, Mr. Chan, and the tour program. It's a little unfortunate that it was very windy and cold today, and the river water was low, so the boat tour was canceled, but we got a refund for that portion (although not all of it). Very impressed. The route after the train ride has a short time of only 2.5 hours. If you can endure not having a serious lunch, you can complete everything, but we were hungry, so we ate at a tea shop for half an hour (many delicious shops). We didn't go to the monkey park because we don't like monkeys, but we went to Tenryu-ji Temple instead, and then out to the bamboo forest, which has a path leading down to the river, and then back to the main road. If you don't shop or stroll, or stand in line to buy coffee at the famous shop, you can make it to the kimono forest. I recommend using AI to help plan the walking route to make the walk smooth. In conclusion, the guide was very good, better than other routes (judging from asking other guides while waiting for the bus, others were very moody even though they were from the same company). The guide was always available, the meeting point is at Kyoto station, where the buses are (well explained in the guide). The Sagano train is very distinctive and the boat trip of about 2 hours is beautiful, even more so with the autumn colors. You then have 2 hours to walk around the bamboo forest and take a walk around the area. Everything was very well organized! :) Recommended!

The train ride was not as impressive as shown on pics. It also depend on which side of the train you are on to get the views. The boat ride was more enjoyable with significant views but duration is abit long like almost 2hrs.

This was my first tour in Japan and I had lots of fun exploring Arashiyama. The train was beautiful, weather was on our side with some of the leaves turned yellow, maybe the autumn season is best enjoyed in the start of November . I wasn’t expecting much of the the boat ride but the guide were super funny and friendly and the scenery was magnificent. Last but not least our tour guide for the whole journey was amazing too, thank you so much Huahua and good luck in the future.

Sagano romantic train and Hozugawa river boat ride was one of the best tours we had in Japan. The boatmen were very, making a lot of jokes and the 1.5 hour boat tour was very entertaining. Later on we visited the Arashiyama bamboo forest, had lunch and snacks. Thanks to our tour guide Mr Xie for organising everything for us🙏

This was a truly wonderful trip, especially great for friends who love natural scenery and landscapes (best to visit in spring and autumn for cherry blossoms and autumn leaves). The journey started with a scenic train ride overlooking the Hozugawa River from above, followed by a relaxing boat ride back to Arashiyama – a truly fulfilling experience. The Hozugawa River boat ride is powered entirely by boatmen hand-rowing the boat for an hour and a half. You can tell it's hard work, but they're all very enthusiastic and try their best to create a lively atmosphere. They kept sharing interesting stories along the way and even tried their best to communicate in English and Chinese when they realized we didn't understand Japanese. Although it was simple, we were all able to understand and had a great time. The free time in Arashiyama was also very enjoyable. We visited the dry landscape garden of Tenryu-ji Temple, bought many souvenirs, and enjoyed delicious snacks along the way. Finally, I would like to thank our tour guide, HuaHua. Seeing that I was traveling alone, he took extra care of me and was very responsible. He provided us with detailed explanations of various matters throughout the trip, communicated clearly, and connected with each person. He was very responsible, and even sang us a song on the way back, haha. Thanks to him, I found this trip very relaxing. I hope to see you again next time! If I have the opportunity to come to Japan again, I think I will definitely visit Arashiyama again!

A beautiful boat trip and train ride. Everything was very well organized and clear. Our guide, Hua Hua, was excellent and very funny; she can also sing well!

Thanks to our guide, we had an unforgettable and truly wonderful day in Arashiyama. From the bamboo forest (Chikurin) to Togetsukyo Bridge, our trip was so much richer because the guide didn't just show us the scenery, but also kindly explained the history and fascinating stories behind each place. We were especially grateful that the guide thoughtfully adjusted the pace to match our group's walking speed and helped us capture many amazing photos at hidden spots with great views. Thanks to the guide's bright energy and kind assistance, we were able to complete the tour without feeling tired and had a great time. If we have the chance again, we would definitely love to have them as our guide. Thank you so much! Haha.
