The World’s Largest! Gyoda City Rice Paddy Art × “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Infinity Castle Arc”! In Gyoda City, Saitama Prefecture, known as the land of rice, magnificent rice paddy art blooms in the vast rice paddies every summer and autumn. This year’s theme is even more anticipated – a collaboration with the highly anticipated “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Infinity Castle Arc”! The heroic figure of the main character, “Tanjiro Kamado,” will be brilliantly presented on the world’s largest rice paddy canvas! This giant rice paddy art, covering approximately 2.8 hectares, was certified by Guinness World Records in 2015 as the “World’s Largest Rice Paddy Art” and is one of Gyoda City’s most representative summer features. In 2025, with the first work of the “Demon Slayer” movie trilogy scheduled to be released on July 18, the rice paddy art will pay tribute to this globally popular work in a lifelike manner.
Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine has a history of about 1500 years and is best known for its love protection and prayers for relationships. The deity enshrined at Hikawa Shrine is the “God of Marital Harmony and Relationships.” Within the shrine grounds, you can see many lottery and matchmaking ideas related to this. In addition, the most famous feature of the shrine is the tunnel made up of “Ema” votive tablets written with everyone’s wishes, which is a well-known photo spot! In addition, every summer, Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine holds the “Enmusubi Wind Chime Festival,” with more than 2,000 Edo-style wind chimes hanging within the grounds. Visitors can write their wishes on small pieces of paper and hang them up.
Little Edo Kawagoe Kawagoe City in Saitama Prefecture retains the atmosphere of the Edo period, where you can experience the styles of the Meiji, Taisho, Showa, and Heisei eras. The most famous landmark is Kawagoe’s symbol, the “Toki no Kane” (Bell of Time), which has been responsible for telling the time since the Edo period and is deeply loved by the local people.
Nagatoro River Cruise The Nagatoro area is best known for its precipitous cliff topography, and one of the most representative views is known as “Iwatatami” (Rock Tatami). It is famous for its scenery of huge crystalline schist layers overlapping each other. On the river cruise, you can enjoy a close-up view of the magnificent cliffs carved out by the river.
