What to expect
On arrival at Silverstream, just 20 minutes north of the city centre, you will be welcomed and provided with a fascinating account on how Silverstream grew into one of New Zealand's foremost alpaca stud farms.
After a brief safety talk, visitors will be taken out into the fields and introduced to the most irresistable of animals, the alpaca. Touch, feed, photograph and cuddle the alpaca and in season you even get to hold a baby (cria). The owner will provide an informative and entertaining commentary and answer any questions. The tour concludes with a visit to the fibre shed, trophy room and alpaca shop. Time is available afterwards to wander around the extensive gardens opr to revisit the alpacas.

Such a lovely experience, it felt really personal and up-close which made it a very special experience. You get to interact and pet & feed the alpacas, and the alpacas were adorable and friendly as well. Tour was lead by Kit, the farm owner, who was very friendly & accomodating, and a great host all around. Fantastic experience and well worth the money. As we didn't have our own transport, Kit very kindly drove us to and from the bus stop. We had lots of fun feeding the alpacas, and strolling around the gardens after. Would definitely recommend.
The venue is clean, and you can hold and take photos with the alpacas.
