【✨Introduction to Featured Attractions】

Yardang National Geological Park 🌄 It is China’s largest and most typical Yardang landform group. This area was once the bottom of the ancient Lop Nur Lake. After tens of millions of years of wind erosion, it has formed dense ridge-like, tower-column-like, and castle-like wind-eroded mounds, standing in the desert like a “Gobi fleet.”

Western Thousand Buddha Caves 🕌 Located on the cliff bank of the Dang River, about 35 kilometers southwest of Dunhuang City, it is named for its location west of the Mogao Grottoes (Thousand Buddha Caves). Its excavation dates back to the Northern Wei Dynasty and continued through the Tang and Song Dynasties. There are 22 existing caves, preserving murals and colored sculptures.

🏯 Dunhuang Ancient City It is actually a film and television base imitating the style of Shazhou City in the Tang and Song Dynasties. Although it is a modern reconstruction, it recreates scenes such as post stations, government offices, and markets of the ancient Silk Road, and is a filming location for films and TV series like “Dunhuang.”

🏜️ Yangguan Scenic Area “I urge you to drink one more cup of wine, for west of Yangguan, there will be no old friends.” Yangguan was an important pass on the southern route of the Silk Road. Today, beacon tower ruins and the Yangguan Museum can be seen. Looking out from a height, the vast desert is boundless, and one can still see the magnificent backs of ancient camel caravans and merchants, with a strong sense of historical vicissitudes.

⛩️ Yumenguan Pass “The spring breeze does not cross Yumenguan Pass.” The existing Xiaofangpan City ruins are a physical testament to the Han Dynasty border pass. The scenic area preserves ancient city walls and beacon towers, standing majestically in the Gobi, desolate and grand. Here, one can imagine the border conflicts of soldiers guarding the frontier and merchants traveling in ancient times.
