The tour amounted to a great day out and my guide was fantastic company. As a native Jeju islander my guide enthusiastically related stories of her own and family life across the generations that served to enrich the experience of the sites we visited. There were a few surprises in store as we unexpectedly encountered other locals who were keen to share stories of the Jeju 4.3 uprising. Jeju 4.3 is not only tragic history but an inseparable part of Jeju culture that sits alongside what are perhaps the more familiar features of the island and its stunning landscape. Anyone visiting Jeju should learn about the unfortunate events of nearly 50 years ago and how they still impact on the lives of islanders today. This tour certainly goes a considerable way towards that while providing visitors with a memorable trip.
