Attraction Introduction
New Taipei Wulai Yunxian Paradise Wulai is located about 27 kilometers southeast of Taipei City, and it is the only mountainous township in Taipei County. The entire area is covered with lush green trees, clear flowing water, and surrounded by mountains. The source at the top of the famous Wulai Waterfall is even more picturesque with lakes and mountains, ancient towering trees, misty forests, colorful butterflies, cicadas, and birds, just like a paradise. However, due to the cliffs of Nanshi River blocking access, visitors could not fully appreciate this beautiful scenery, which led to the plan to build an aerial cable car. The aerial cable car allows the complete natural landscape to be presented to the public. Because of its natural beauty, the changing seasons of spring, summer, autumn, and winter each have their own unique beauty, just like a fairyland, hence the name “Yunxian Paradise.”
Wulai Trolley (Closed for maintenance on the first Tuesday of every month) In its early days, the Wulai Trolley was only used for transporting timber. Due to the development of tourism at Wulai Waterfall and the demand from tourists, passenger transport officially began in 1963, with manual pushing of tourists. To cope with the increasing number of tourists, it was mechanized in 1974, using diesel engines to power the trolley. In 1987, despite many difficulties, a tunnel was excavated at the waterfall station to replace the original turntable, and it has been in use ever since. The operating route is from Wulai Station to Waterfall Station, with a total length of about 1.6 kilometers. It operates daily from 8:00 to 17:00, and the operating hours are adjusted during the summer peak season. It departs as soon as passengers arrive to serve travelers. When visiting Wulai Old Street, the trolley is a popular must-visit attraction for both adults and children.
Wulai Forestry Life Museum (Closed on Tuesdays) The Wulai Forestry Life Museum, formerly known as the Wulai Trolley Museum, boasts an exquisite waterfall view and serves as a collection hall to record and present the history and artifacts of the trolley. The museum offers daily actual trolley rides and on-site guided tours, as well as weekend spiritual art activities for relaxation. We look forward to sharing this with friends who love nature and art. (Entering the B3 large terrace of the Forestry Life Museum offers an even more beautiful view of Wulai Waterfall.)
Wulai Waterfall Wulai Waterfall is the waterfall with the largest drop in northern Taiwan. It was listed as one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Taiwan during the Japanese colonial period and is also known as “Yunlai no Taki.” When there is abundant rainfall, Wulai Waterfall forms two flying streams, cascading down from the valley, showcasing its magnificent beauty. In spring, you can also admire the blooming pink cherry blossoms next to the waterfall, adorning the waterfall forest.
Wulai Old Street “Wulai Old Street” refers to the area around Wulai Street, Waterfall Road, and Huanshan Road. The shop signs are uniformly designed, looking quite neat, and most of the shops feature indigenous characteristics. Therefore, visitors can taste indigenous mountain delicacies, such as charcoal-grilled wild boar, hot spring eggs, shell ginger leaf rice, bamboo tube rice, Makauy dishes, bird’s nest fern, and pearl onions, which are indigenous dishes rarely found elsewhere. In addition, there are also millet wine and millet mochi and other specialties, which are very suitable as souvenirs for friends and relatives. At the same time, you can also watch indigenous song and dance performances and experience the enthusiasm and vitality of the indigenous people.
Wulai Visitor Center After a day of fun, you can also go to the Wulai Visitor Center for an experience. You can visit the visitor center first, which provides travel brochures, introductions, and a place to stamp for souvenirs, deepening your understanding of Wulai. After exiting the door, you can go to the hot spring foot soaking pool on the right to enjoy the experience and relax (visitors are requested to bring their own small towels to wipe their feet).

Thank you, Driver Zhu, for giving our family such an enjoyable trip! Your engaging explanations of history, culture, and more helped us better understand Taiwan, and my whole family loved how informative it was. We'd love to tour with you again next time we visit Taiwan! The snacks you gave us as a gift, because you wanted us to try them, were also delicious. Please stay healthy, and thank you!
Our driver, Kevin, is knowledgeable and friendly. He is punctual and is entertaining throughout the trip. The Wulai trekking route is relaxing and it is recommended to bring insect repellant. The cable car to Wulai resort is a short 5 min ride. There is a cart ride from Wulai resort to Wulai old street which is enjoyable for kids. It is recommended to eat local food at Wulai old street.
The driver was friendly and shared with us alot of local food we can try. The waterfall was amazing. And love the wulai old street. Must try their sausages. When we ended the wulai tour early, he dropped us at ximending for some shopping as well.
This one-day trip to Wulai was very enjoyable! From old street food and the retro Wulai trolley to spectacular waterfalls and relaxing hot springs, each stop is unique. I particularly enjoyed the ride on the trolley to the waterfall, it felt like a short trip through the forest. We enjoyed an aboriginal meal for lunch, which had a unique flavor. Finally, take a bath to relax your body and mind, which is a perfect end to the day's trip. Highly recommended for travelers who want to get close to nature and relax!
For this booking, there is a travel agent contacting us via WhatsApp, and added driver 文呈 in the group. The car was Volkwagon T6, clean and comfortable. The driver was punctual and polite. He gave clear instructions on where to meet. It was a rainy day, but we still went with the itinerary but skipped YunXian Park and cable car, which needed to climb steep steps, so not suitable for elderly. Driver provided us with big umbrellas. The road was windy and at times, it felt that he drove rather fast. Wulai is a very chill nature place, you should visit!
Our driver 鄒宗燁 is great. He was patient and made an effort to provide us knowledge of Taiwan along the way. Cause it was raining the whole day, we ended our trip early. He is very flexible and added a trip to the nearby mall. Wish you great health and happy always. 😊
Thank you for making Taiwan feel like home. We laughed a lot, ate way too much, and honestly didn’t feel like tourists—more like a group of chaotic friends on a class trip 😂 10/10 tour for the trip . Tq 😇🥰 service:
punctual driver, eventhough he was not a tour guide, he gave good tips and clear instructions and recommendations. this was in May and summer heat, hence not much crowd, easy to get on the tram and cafe seating. quite a few flights of steps at tram alight point, skipped the amusement park as it is not elderly friendly. can finish the tour early if you do not fully utilise all the activities (for example, hiking the entire forest, amusement park,). it’s a simple village in the outskirts, fairly small scale.
Thank you to the driver for the kind introduction to the area. Wulai Waterfall and Neidong National Forest Recreation Area are both very beautiful. The food in Wulai Old Street is also delicious.
Despite the rain all day, the driver was cautious and safe, with a friendly attitude and a comfortable car. I felt safe and happy throughout the entire ride!
