Braga and Guimaraes Full-Day Trip from Porto

A staff member wearing a red jacket will be waiting at the meeting point to assist and guide you to the boarding area. The tour guide/driver alternated between English and Spanish to introduce the small stories along the way from Porto city center to Braga, and carefully attended to everyone on the bus. The weather was bad that day, with rain, wind, and fog, but even in such a disheveled state, the whole trip was enriched by the guide's added value. Bom Jesus do Monte Sanctuary, the water-powered funicular, the Five Senses Fountain, and seeing the Braga city skyline after the fog gradually dissipated, were still worth the price despite the wind and rain. The climate is volatile, and the "Casa das Estampas" shop here specializes in selling religious icons, postcards, and local souvenirs. The store has umbrellas (about EUR9) and disposable raincoats (about EUR5) available for temporary purchase, which can be effective in helping if you encounter rain in a windproof and waterproof jacket during the uncomfortable winter.

If you're traveling from Porto by national train, there are two separate routes to Braga and Guimarães. A group day tour is a very convenient option, as you can visit both cities and their important attractions (Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte, Braga Cathedral, Guimarães) all at once by coach. It's a great choice.

The guide and the driver did a good joy following the itinerary in a professional way. we really enjoyed the trip to both cities and experienced the old European charm of the cathedrals and castle. highly recommended.

Visiting the nearby town was fun and not too far, and the food was delicious. This day trip is definitely worth it, though it's a shame the guide spoke French almost exclusively, with very little English.

The tour guide provided detailed explanations and managed the time exceptionally well. Originally scheduled as a small group tour in a 6-passenger vehicle, a group of Korean travelers didn't show up that day, turning it into an ultra-exclusive private tour for just the three of us. The overall pace of the tour was very comfortable and relaxed, and the sights in both Braga and Guimarães are well worth visiting.

There are two small towns very close to Porto. They are small and very unique. If you stay in Porto for a long time, you can visit them when you have time, but they are not places that must be visited.
