A pleasant one-night stay while travelling to Reading for business. The hotel was comfortable, well located and had everything I needed, although the overall experience was good rather than exceptional. A solid choice for a short stay.

This was one of the most disappointing hotel stays I’ve had. We specifically booked this hotel because we were told the room had air conditioning. It didn’t. Our room was on the top floor, and the heat coming through the ceiling made it unbearably hot. Sleeping was almost impossible. The lift was also out of service, meaning we had to climb several flights of stairs every time we left or returned to our room, which was especially frustrating in the extreme heat. We completed a wake-up call card and confirmed it with reception, yet no one ever called. Had we not woken up on our own, we could easily have missed our plans. To compensate for these issues, reception told us breakfast would be complimentary. However, when we went to the restaurant, we were told we had to pay. We asked for it to be charged to our room so it could be resolved at checkout, but the restaurant staff insisted we pay by card. At checkout, we were then told they would refund the room service charge instead—even though room service cost €32 while breakfast for four cost €100. The whole situation was poorly handled and unnecessarily stressful. From start to finish, the service was disorganized, communication between staff was inconsistent, and promises made by the hotel were not honoured. I genuinely don’t understand how this hotel has a five-star rating. I would not stay here again and cannot recommend it.

Lift wasn’t working, shower mixer didn’t work and lights in bathroom weren’t working properly, overall it needs some maintenance

Amazing from the minute you step inside. All beautifully cleaned and very peaceful.

Beautiful place and right in the city centre, so great for movement around. Hotel itself quite neat and they made efforts to give us early check in. They also offered to keep our luggage until our next visit.

Very nice hotel. Nicely decorated. Very nice spacious bathroom. Breakfast was very nice but slow service. Great location for train station, town centre and Hexagon theatre. Room a bit warm.

Car parking is a major problem!! And for this reason, I would not be returning, so lucky to get a small car parking space; otherwise, it would have meant parking off-site, which I would not have liked at all. The reception team were not very good at all, and had very poor customer service. Very disappointing
