GreatStayed with partner
Great location in the Capital district. We had a wonderful view of the Des Moines river and bridge. The hotel could use some updating and maintenance. Our window leaked when it rained and the doorknob to the bathroom came off when pulled. Breakfast was decent, but food service for dinner was limited and not as good. Very friendly staff.

GreatStayed with kids
Honestly all I have to say is the breakfast could have been a bit better. The pastries were a bit hard, and the coffee was not great aside from that no complaints!

Below averageStayed with family
Most hotel clerks greet you when you get to the counter and confirm the rate of the room, tell you that they will take a deposit per night. This man said none of that. He said hello and next words out his mouth were you can swipe your card when you’re ready.
The rooms were awful. Dated and there was a noticeable smell when you enter the room. The carpet was nasty and I didn’t even want to stay but it was only for one night.
Bright spots- valet, both the evening and morning guys and our server in the restaurant/bar area that evening was very nice.
I stayed there because it was the Embassy Suites, but never again.

GreatStayed with kids
Hotel and room was dated, but overall the same good amenities that you get at other Embassy suite hotels. The pillows were oddly small and the pull out bed was old, kids had a difficult night sleeping on springs pushing out of mattress. Overall everything was good.
