This hotel is one of a kind - all details are thought of for you so you can just come and enjoy. We had the kaiseki beef dinner as well and it was delicious. Steps away from Yasaka pagoda for after dinner stroll.

Yasaka Yutone Kyokoyado is exactly the kind of place I love staying in Kyoto: small, quiet, and incredibly clean, with just enough design flair to feel special without being flashy. The rooms are spotless and thoughtfully put together—tatami floors, a proper soaking tub, great linens, and all the little accessories (tea set, pajamas, amenities) that make it feel more like a curated boutique stay than a generic hotel. The location is the real win for me. You step outside and you’re basically in the middle of Higashiyama—Yasaka Pagoda, Ninenzaka, Sannenzaka, and Kiyomizu-dera are all an easy walk, so it’s perfect for just wandering around, especially in the evening. It’s tucked on a quieter side street, but you’re still close to convenience stores and casual spots, so grabbing late‑night snacks or a quick bite after exploring is no problem. Breakfast and hospitality match the setting. The Japanese breakfast is beautifully done and feels like an experience, not just a meal to start the day. The staff are genuinely friendly and helpful in that low‑key, attentive way—happy to help you navigate uour foest time with japanese “how to’s”, suggestions, or logistics, but never overbearing. Overall, it’s a great home base if you want to walk everywhere, eat well, and come back to a calm, very clean room at the end of the night.

Solo stay · For leisure

My stay at Yasaka Yutone Kyokoyado was remarkable from beginning to end! From the moment I stepped into the reception area, I experienced impeccable customer service and became immersed in an authentic Japanese hospitality experience. My room was the perfect retreat from a day of sightseeing, especially the cedar bath!! The photos don't do the beauty of this ryokan justice. Everything is thoughtfully designed and placed to make the stay comfortable and culturally genuine. The bed was super comfortable and the linens were soft. The closet was fully stocked with everything I may need: tabi socks, pajamas, and yukatas. I did not have any issues with noise whatsoever—none. My dinner was an 8-course adventure that was both beautiful and delicious! Breakfast was really wonderful as well, though not served in separate courses so it's much briefer to help get the day started. And the location? Pure perfection! The best of Gion is right outside the front door. I had 2 days of sightseeing and never had to take a taxi (though they're plentiful in the neighborhood, if needed). As a solo, female traveler, I felt very safe and well taken care of. I cannot recommend this ryokan enough—and I cannot wait to come back!

The staff, service and food were exceptional. The location was perfect for what we wanted out of a four night stay in Kyoto. But, it was the staff that made the experience memorable. Some of the key spots are just around the corner from the hotel. Given the crowds during the day, it was easy to see them early in the morning or after dinner when the crowds were much smaller. If you are looking for the perfect atmosphere from a traditional small Japanese Ryoken then look no further!
