A tale of two houses: we were located in the former Redcar site which was as the worst hotel in Bath and lives up to its reputation. Rebranded and called “boutique” if you are into toilets being propped up by wooden blocks, ceilings with leaks in them that cause wall to collapse, mouldy bathrooms, lift that takes 5 minutes to go up… list goes on. Staff offered us a new room and gave free drink but hotel of horrors it still is. We stayed in the “traditional” side before the merger and it was fantastic with a great atmosphere, staff, amenities, rooms…alas that has not come across in the merger.

Fantastic
Clean and beautiful room, great and friendly staff. Centrally located for all the facilities in the city. Highly recommended. Front of house staff and manager were lovely and nothing was too much trouble.

Good
The hotel is in a nice place. I slept ok but the yv in the room didn't work, the shower flooded and the bathroom door wouldn't shut. The breakfast was ok and the staff were very nice

Upon returning home from our recent stay we realised we had left 2 jackets in the hotel. The staff could not have been more helpful in making sure we got our jackets back safely. We would not hesitate to stay with them again.

Perfect location for exploring Bath, occupies a number of former homes in a town street with high ceilings and grand interior designs close to the historic centre. Good breakfast and very friendly staff. There is even limited parking if you arrive early enough, which is rare in Bath. Idiosyncratic and appealing hotel.

Good

Solo stay

The hotel is situated in a great location. The centre of the city is just around the corner and there is a very beautiful park just up the street. There is a heat wave in Bath and a lot of properties cannot have air conditioning. So, I booked this hotel because the listing on Expedia said it was air conditioned. When I arrived they showed me to a room that was not airconditioned. It was stiffling. I went back to reception and was told that I was in traditional wing of the hotel and those rooms are not air conditioned. They then said that while the main listing says the hotel has air conditioning, they do not list airconditioning among the ammenities in those rooms. Which is a cop out. The person at the front desk that I spoke to was a bit rude and I could tell he was annoyed that I requested a room switch. The rest of the staff were polite and helpful. The elevator was broken so a staff member carried my suitcase up the stairs for me. There was something wrong with the TV and they fixed it pretty quickly. The pictures make it look a lot more luxurious than it is.

Staff very nice and the hotel was fine and central but the room was very small difficult to get into bed and couldn’t get in the shower. It says cosy but that’s going a little to far
