FantasticStayed with family
We had a great time. Loved the history in the hotel. Air conditioning struggled in the humidity as expected in an older building but we were reasonably comfortable. Will be back

Fantastic Excellent hospitality from all staff. We enjoyed high tea at Zoe’s and our favourite server Josee. Our room was clean and comfortable. Another gals birthday celebration thoroughly enjoyed. Five star everything

The Chateau Laurier is such a beautiful to stay. It feels elegant and regal. Staff were attentive and the property was very clean. The views in our room were spectacular. On the down side, I wish there was an extra chair in our Signature Room. Watching tv for two was very uncomfortable because of the room configuration.
Overall. A wonderful place to stay in Ottawa!

FantasticStayed with partner
We loved our two night stay at the Chateau Laurier in July 2026. A favourite place for us to visit! I had requested a bathtub if possible (I know more and more hotels are getting rid of those!) but it wasn't a deal breaker. However the lovely woman checking us in, was not able to oblige with the bathtub, but she felt we needed something else.
Which we did NOT ask for! She offered us a certain amount for free food at any of the hotels eateries (which we gratefully took advantage of).
She just bent over backwards trying to make sure we were happy (we are NOT demanding at all and didn't ask for anything...except the bathtub, lol). Anyways it was a very nice way to start the stay there. We ALWAYS keep coming back!

GreatSolo stay
I have stayed at Fairmont hotels all over the world and love them. The setting and architecture of Fairmont is wonderful and the Chateau Laurier is magnificent.
Unfortunately I did not have a good experience this time around. Specifically the disappointments were around the staff. The front desk told us they would make reservations for us each day at the on site pub restaurant, but failed to do so. No big deal the first time. When we checked into the restaurant and could not get the table, we asked them to make us a reservation for the next 3 days, which was not done. We also attended the Emilia's restaurant attached to the Fairmont and after we were seated it took 30 min to get someone to attend to us, then once they did, they forgot our order and never returned after another 20 min and then we finally gave up and left. The Michelin rated restaurant on site also let us down as their service levels were so long that they ultimately ended up giving us most of the meal on the house, which was very nice of them. We also were wanting valet parking but were told they were full and had to park 6 blocks away underground each day. Not the experience we are used to and highly recommend the property manager do a review of service expectations with staff so that the customer's experience can be improved upon. Having run businesses myself, there appears to be a management issue on hiring, training and monitoring staff.

Would recommend this place only if you are into historical places and events. Would recommend to get the official guided tour which takes you back in history. The rooms are decent however not upto marks with current standards. Parking is expensive but very convenient.
