Fantastic 5.0
For those hesitant due to inconvenient transportation, this tour is highly recommended as it's incredibly convenient. The itinerary includes transportation from Nagoya to Kamikochi, one night's accommodation, the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route ticket (Ogizawa-Tateyama), and return transportation from Tateyama to Nagoya. There's ample time allocated for hiking in Kamikochi; we chose an 8-kilometer hike and had plenty of time for lunch! Dinner is included with the overnight stay, and there's a large public hot spring bath to wash away the day's fatigue. On the second day, we also got to see the Snow Wall at the Snow Corridor, which was the highlight of Tateyama Kurobe! Our guide, Abu, was a man of few words, but everything he said was important and helpful advice. His service was excellent, and he drove very safely. Overall, the tour experience was fantastic.

The tour guide for this group was from Hong Kong. Sheila, our guide, was very thoughtful. She reminded us that the bus ride would be long and advised us to buy food at a convenience store to eat if we got hungry. The trip was very comfortable, and the tour bus was spacious with plenty of room, so it didn't feel crowded. Every 2 to 3 hours, there was a rest stop where we could buy snacks and use the restroom. On the first day, we visited Kamikochi. The itinerary was well-planned, and we got to see all the intended sights. The weather that day was perfect, neither too hot nor too cold. The scenery in Kamikochi is beautiful and well worth a visit; I recommend it to everyone. Our first night's accommodation was a hot spring ryokan in Hakuba Onsen. The buffet was delicious, with a wide variety of food. On the second day, we went to Tateyama Kurobe. Unfortunately, the weather was bad, and the Snow Valley was closed, which gives us a reason to visit again in the future. We returned to Tokyo around 7 PM after the trip concluded. Our guide, Sheila, also recommended some good restaurants to try in Tokyo. We followed her advice and went to a beef tongue restaurant, which was quite tasty. We are very grateful to our guide for providing us with such an enjoyable two-day, one-night trip.

Fantastic 5.0
My group of 6pax have enjoyed our 2D1N tour of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, we were especially fortunate to have such an excellent guide in Ms Zhang, 张静娟. Our itinerary was well scheduled and Ms Zhang's detailed explanation of the places that we're visiting is clear and precise. She has also advised us of the nice local food that we should try. The 6 different transportation is an experience as we crossed the Alps and the mountains to reach the snow walls. The highest point of the wall was 11m, unfortunately, it was raining when we reached the snow wall, our photos was alittle blurry and wet but our excitement has compensated for the weather 😂

Great 4.0
The overall itinerary was smooth, and there was ample time to explore each tourist spot. Our tour leader, Kevin, provided excellent care and arrangements, and even helped us take photos. However, the itinerary stated two nights at a hot spring inn, but unfortunately, we only stayed there on the first night, which was a bit disappointing.

The driver provided excellent service. This was my second visit to Kamikochi and Shirakawa-go, and this time the stops were very flexible, allowing us to spend more time at the places we liked, which made the trip even better. The hotel we stayed at in the evening was also great. This itinerary is highly recommended.

Fantastic 5.0
It poured rain the day we went to Kamikochi, but that meant we had amazing weather the next day for Tateyama Kurobe. Both places are perfect for hiking. Although the group tour made the hiking time a bit tight, we still got a good introduction to the main sights. Our guide even helped us take photos and edit them, and was really funny, too! It was a very enjoyable trip. I definitely want to come back in the future for a more in-depth hiking and camping experience.

This hotel is located nicely in the centre, but on a quite street. About 10minutes walk from the station. everything within Matsumoto is on walking distance. If you want to hire a car, there is a car rental located on the opposite site of the street.

Clean room and super great location just next to JR Matsumoto station & across Matsumoto bus terminal. The breakfast is also delicious! But they won't store your luggage after check out, so you need to pay extra for lockers.

What to know before visiting Matsumoto

Quick snapshot of Matsumoto’s offerings and seasonality

Matsumoto is known for its strong mix of day tours, cultural experiences and attraction passes, and Klook booking data shows a clear seasonality to visits. Demand peaks in January and drops to its lowest in August, so the city’s rhythm alternates between busy winter months and much quieter late-summer periods.

When to visit: crowds, price swings and the best windows

According to Klook booking data, January is the busiest month while August is the quietest. Prices drift up and down through the year: they are typically lowest around April and climb to their highest in June, so demand and price do not perfectly mirror each other — the busiest month (January) isn’t the priciest, and the most expensive month (June) sits outside the peak-demand window. If you want lower prices and smaller crowds, aim for April or the August trough; visit in January if you want the peak-season atmosphere despite moderate prices.

Tips for travellers from Australia

Most experiences in Matsumoto can be booked a few weeks ahead: Klook data shows typical advance bookings at around three weeks, with many travellers booking as late as about six days before travel. If you plan to travel in the busiest months mentioned above, lock in popular tours and cultural experiences earlier; for shorter, more flexible trips you can comfortably book closer to departure on Klook.
