    Been dreaming of visiting America but don’t know if you can travel from Australia to the USA yet? Good news! The US travel ban has officially been lifted since November 8, 2021, which means you can grab your luggage out of storage and plan your trip!
    With vaccination rates rising in both the US and Australia, travel will be at its most lenient since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, there are many important things to consider before you go. We’ve compiled all the essential info on travel from Australia to the US to give you a hand. Keep reading to get the lowdown!

    Is it safe to travel to the US?

    58% of eligible Americans are already vaccinated, while 67% have received their first dose. This rate is also expected to increase in the coming months, making the US one of the safest travel destinations. However, note that each state may have varying COVID-19 situations and corresponding restrictions, so it’s best to check before travelling. You can check Centres for Disease Control and Prevention or CDC’s website for more info on each state and territory.  
    Please also remember that wearing masks over your mouth and nose is still highly recommended, especially indoors and in public transportation.

    Yes, the Australian Government has finally lifted the restrictions, allowing Australians to travel to the US starting November 8, 2021. 

    Do I have to be vaccinated?

    For non-citizens and immigrants aged 18 and above, vaccination is required to enter the US. You would also need to present proof of full vaccination. Take note that only those with WHO and FDA approved vaccines may enter the US border. These vaccines are:

    • Johnson & Johnson
    • Pfizer-BioNTech
    WHO Approved:
    • Oxford-AstraZeneca/Covishield
    • Sinopharm
    • Sinovac

    Aside from proof of complete vaccination, you will also need to present a negative COVID-19 PCR test upon boarding the plane to the US. The CDC also recommends taking another test after arrival within three to five days. 

    Is quarantine required?

    Each state and territory in the US have their regulations regarding quarantine. It’s best to review the CDC’s website to see the requirements for your destination. Upon return to Australia, however, New South Wales, the ACT and Victoria will permit entry without quarantine. 
    Regardless of quarantine and vaccination status, tourists are still highly recommended to be cautious.

    Several Australian airlines such as Jetstar, Virgin Australia, and flag carrier Qantas have the most frequent flights to the US, alongside some American airlines such as Delta and American Airlines.

     There are direct flights from Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne to Honolulu and Los Angeles. The shortest flight period to Honolulu is nine hours from Brisbane, while the quickest travel to Los Angeles is 13 hours from Sydney. Direct flights to Honolulu can take up to over ten hours from Melbourne and up to 14 hours from Melbourne to LA.
