This Indoor Playground Is Every Child (& Parent’s) Dream Come True

Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore has launched a new interactive play space – Buds, that seems just like every child’s dream come true! Consisting of an indoor playground, fun themed activity spaces and even themed rooms, we sent our resident Klook cutie Jazzelle down to give it a shot. All parents looking for ways to keep their children entertained, this one’s for you.

Buds by Shangri-La may be located in the hotel but you don’t have to be a hotel guest to visit! You can book the activity exclusively on Klook and reserve your preferred time-slot.

Throw away all notions of hotel kids clubs where kids sit in a room and play with minimal supervision. The activities at Buds are extremely engaging so you don’t have to worry about your child staring mindlessly at a screen.

If you’re a parent looking to keep your child entertained while you enjoy a quick break, you’ll be glad to know that they are in safe hands. There are staff stationed all around the play areas to supervise and engage your kids! These staff will even willingly climb through the jungle gym to make sure your child has the maximum enjoyment with maximum safety!

If you’ll still like to keep an eye on your kid, there is a cafe located within Buds where you can sit down and have a cup of coffee while your kids are off to play!

Buds is located at Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore and if you are heading over by public transport, the nearest MRT station is Orchard (NS23) or Stevens (DT10). However, do note that it is a pretty far walk away and if you’re travelling with children we definitely would not suggest walking.

Pre-book a private car charter on Klook and let the driver take you there. This way you can even leave your belongings in the vehicle and simply let the driver know what time to come take you home!

We get it – bringing your bub for a playdate sometimes requires as much effort as planning for a holiday. To make sure you and bub can fully enjoy yourselves at Buds, here’s some things you should take note of before you head down.

Socks are an absolute necessity to enter the Buds playroom for both children and adults. We recommend bringing a pair of hardy non-slip socks from home, otherwise they are available for purchase from the Buds counter at SGD5 per pair.

All that energy is bound to result in a hot and sweaty child, so a change of clothes is always a good idea. It can sometimes get cold in the activity rooms, so do bring along a cardigan just in case!

Fill up a water bottle to save some spare cash.

You won’t want to start off with the playground if you know you won’t be able to pull your child away later on! Most parents choose to go with the themed room activities first before the playground session.

We all know how much kids love playgrounds. Play is an indoor playground with slides, ball pits and even shooting games that will keep your kids entertained for hours! There are three different explorer zones in Play – the sand pit, the fire station and space.

Jazzelle got shocked by the sound of the blasters but once she started, she just couldn’t stop!

For kids under the age of four, there is a specially designed Toddler Zone inside Buds with swings and even a piano floor! They can ride on vintage rides like police cars, bounce off soft walls that produce animal sounds and slide into a giant ball pit.

Let their creative juices flow at Muddy, a storytelling and arts and craft activity. After they’ve been read the storybook, they’ll be given a chance to colour the characters of the book and draw out the house of their dreams!

Jazelle had tons of fun coloring the animals and drawing out her dream house. This included a TV playing the Disney movie Frozen on loop and a sofa filled with Peppa Pig and Minnie Mouse plush toys! Kids will get to bring their creation home at the end of their visit.

P.S. You won’t have to worry about them feeling bored each time they visit. The activities change according to season and theme so each time they return, it’ll be a whole new experience!

Plus, Muddy is the only place they’ll get to paint on the walls without getting scolded! With the flick of the light switch, watch the entire room glow with neon paint. Jazzelle grabbed the nearest brush and couldn’t wait to start painting the walls.

P.S. You don’t have to worry about paint getting on their clothes because each of them will be given a protective smock.

They’ll also be taught good hygiene practices of washing their hands after!

If your child is a budding young performer, they’ll definitely love Stage. This music studio is where they’ll get to learn a song and choreography and jazz up it up with their own style. You can leave your child there for an hour and come back at the end of the session and get ready to be wowed!

The walkway to the Stage room is lined with funky neon lights!

They might even find a new instrument or uncover a talent they never knew they had before. Our little Jazzelle had a ball singing and dancing along to her favourite Disney tune – Let it go!

Let your kids have their cake and eat it too! At Bake, they’ll get to get their hands dirty in a baking class. Don’t worry, they’ll be accompanied by a professional chef guiding them along. This fully equipped kitchen will allow them to unleash their inner Gordon Ramsay and bake something they can take home to share.

There is even an outdoor splash area where kids can run under water sprinklers so don’t forget to bring along their swimsuits! They’ll also be needing an extra set of clothes because they can get pretty wet after playing.
