    It’s 2020 - you should definitely be able to have your cake and eat it too, no matter your dietary requirement! Ever wondered where you can find the best gluten-free desserts in Sydney? 
    We’ve had the sweet pleasure of putting together the best gluten-free treats in Sydney - from pandan macarons, caramelised fig gelato to cafes with full gluten-free menus!  

    1. Breadfern Bakery

    On the well-trodden corner where Redfern and Chalmers street meet,  two people with a passion for cooking came together to create Breadfern Bakery.
    As organic bakers themselves, you know that they have what it takes to deliver exceptional artisan breads, as well as sweet and savoury pastries that are all gluten-free!

    Some of their best gluten-free desserts are: Orange & Poppy Seed Cake, Apple Tarte Tatin and Pumpkin Sourdough!

    2. Nutie

    If you’re vegan, stop and drop everything - we’ve just found a cafe that has graciously made life a little sweeter with playful desserts, donuts and a full brekkie and lunch menu that are all prepared with the best naturally gluten-free ingredients! 
    At Nutie, they are all about ‘having your cake and eating it too!

    3. Rivareno

    “Best Gelato we've ever tasted and Gluten-Free” are some of the reviews you’ll find about Rivareno! They pride themselves on nearly all of their flavours being gluten-free, with the exception of a few. 
    If you can’t be bothered to head out and in the mood for some gelato right to your door, they are also available on Uber Eats, Foodora and Deliveroo.

    Gelato Blue is Sydney’s very first plant-based gelateria - 100% vegan, including gluten and dairy free so you can have a peace of mind and go wild with all the flavours here!
    They are truly experimental with their flavours, opting for coconut milk over dairy. From home-made caramelised fig with walnuts, a fruity passion fruit to rich chocolate with nougat - you know they have it all!

    5. MakMak 

    Established in 2010, MakMak Macarons have truly been delivering the goods - the premium, handmade and 100% gluten-free macarons, that is! You can count that MakMak sources the highest quality ingredients like  Callebaut chocolate, Maldon Sea Salt and Bombay Sapphire gin, as well as seasonal Australian ingredients including lemon myrtle and strawberry gum!
    They also offer Macaron making classes with options between learning to make a Unicorn or Raspberry macaron.

    6. El Topo

    Believe it or not, you can indeed get your gluten-free Mexican fix at El Topo in Bondi Junction! 
    Most of the menu is coeliac-friendly and they also have an impressive dessert selection - from popcorn ice cream, smashed flan of coconut to macadamia tamarind and banana, there’s bound to be something that’ll make you go ‘mmmmm’! Something worth mentioning - there’s also $3 Taco Tuesdays and $10 Margarita Happy Hours at El Topo.

    7. Imperial Gluten Free Bakery 

    If you’re after sweet or savoury treats that are 100% free of gluten then you’ve come to the right place!
    Imperial is truly Australia's largest gluten-free bakery - with warm banana bread, muffins, cookies, cakes and donuts to boot! All the breads are made daily and owner Joseph Maroun makes sure that they contain absolutely zero preservatives.
