Kimono Rental and Photoshoot in Kyoto by Ouka Kimono

The staff at the counter knows how to speak in English/Mandarin/Japanese. So it was easier for us to understand what we were supposed to do. We only got the basic kimono so we could only choose a set of kimono from 1 rack, one obi (belt) and a tiny bag (then 2 more accessories). If you’re wearing a hijab like me, the staff would ask if you want it tucked inside or out of the kimono. :) Very considerate of them.

We chose the simple kimono plan, but you could choose a more colorful kimono for an additional fee. If you choose a kimono you like, they will recommend a belt and bag that matches it. You can change your clothes inside, but since your neck needs to be visible to wear a kimono, you were told that you had to take off the half-neck heat tag you were wearing at the time (it was okay to wear heat tag bottoms). I thought it would be very cold because it was February, but it wasn't as cold as I thought. After I got dressed, I was very thankful that they gave me a pretty hair accessory and styled it for me. The staff are all very friendly. If you go to Kyoto, I definitely recommend you try the kimono experience! Thanks to you, I am leaving behind many pretty photos and good memories.

This studio is very popular and even though we booked the earliest slot and got there early, there was already a lot of people inside. However the shop does have a smooth process, once they verify your QR code, you will be led into both the male and female changing rooms. There will be staff helping you to get dressed and they are great! For the females, there will be a hairstylist available after you are done to do up you hair for you. Very fast and fuss free and everything was so quick and smooth! Probably took about 40 min from choosing the fabric and being done.

Love our photographer thru Ouka Kimono. He was able to communicate with us in Mandarin and English. We’ve received our photos the very next day and we loved them. ❤️ very attentive and skilled. He has also offered for photo touches to give six more additional photos of my choice for a more professional touch. Highly recommended! It was fun and memorable.

My mother in law visited us from Vegas to Japan and this was her first kimono experience. Highly reccommended this place, they have wide range of kimonos and yukatas to choose from. The staff were very friendly and professional. They dressed us up quickly which prove how highly experience the staff on what they are doing. It turned out amazingly beautiful and we absolutely going to use their service again.

Kimonos were beautiful! My partner and I had fun walking around, taking photos wearing the kimono around Kyoto. But we arrived quite late so waiting time took more than an hour. Be sure to arrive on time for your schedule.

The photographer was super nice and he waited for us to dress up and do our hair then took us to some nice places for the photo shooting. We have 3 people and he would organise to do the individual photo shoot. Highly recommended!

It only takes five minutes from Kiyomizu Gojo Station and is not far from Kiyomizu-dera Temple. There are marked routes on the road. There are many kimono styles in the store. Some of the staff can speak Chinese and will help with matching colors. Couples wearing kimonos have matching hairstyles for girls. It looks great☺️☺️. You can choose the shoes by yourself, but they are not comfortable for me, so I basically didn’t wear them🤣. It was also drizzling that day, and the shoes are not non-slip. The store staff reminded you to avoid falling, and they also provide plastic bags for you to bring with you. shoes for going out.

They have a beautiful collection. And the ladies are amazing. They have really great attention for detail and they are very friendly. We want to come back here again! We highly recommend them.
