Taiyuan Ancient County

The Ancient City of Taiyuan Scenic Area is located in Jinyuan District, covering an area of approximately 0.8 square kilometers. The city boasts numerous historical architectural relics, a clear cross-street layout, and well-preserved street and alley textures, inheriting the ancient architectural pattern of Jinyang Ancient City, known as "the city where the phoenix soars." It resembles a phoenix with its head to the north and tail to the south, earning it the reputation of "Phoenix City" since ancient times, and is a continuation of the 2500-year-old cultural lineage of Jinyang Ancient City. There are 79 existing cultural relic buildings within the city, and 49 historical buildings are listed for protection by the Taiyuan Municipal Government. Among them, the Confucius Temple is designated as a national key cultural relic protection unit.
