- On clear days, spot up to 11 of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains, including a distant view of Mt. Fuji.
- Perfect for all ages and fitness levels: easy wooden boardwalk route (70 min) or a more adventurous rocky trail (50 min) to the pond.
What to expect
During the Green Season, Hakuba Happo-One becomes a premier alpine trekking destination.
The Happo Alpen Line lifts visitors from the base (760m) to Happo-ike Sanso (1,830m) in 25 minutes. The Kurobishi Line provides an alternative scenic access point.
From the top station, a trail leads to Happo Pond (2,060m), a celebrated "mirror lake" reflecting the Hakuba Sanzan peaks. The route showcases 347 alpine plant species and offers two paths: a gentle wooden boardwalk (south course, ~70 min) and a rocky mountain trail (north course, ~50 min).
For rest and panoramic views, Usagidaira Terrace (1,400m) and Happo-ike Sanso offer refreshments and facilities. Afterward, hikers can relax at Hakuba Happo Onsen near the base—Japan's only highly alkaline natural hydrogen hot spring.

Reviews
Experience: Take the Happo Gondola straight up into the sky, and the magnificent Northern Alps mountain range will unfold before your eyes! The views are expansive and steady, with stunning scenery along the way.
Refreshing alpine scenery with an accessible, well-marked trail. It’s a must-visit if you’re in the Hakuba area.
very good experience. The voucher is very easy to redeem. cool place.
very good experience. Easy to exchange the voucher. The place is very nice.Strongly recommended.
You can purchase and use the tickets on the same day by exchanging them at the counter. You'll transfer cable cars three times to reach the top. We went on a weekday, so there weren't many people and no need to wait in line. If you plan to hike, remember to bring water and Pocari Sweat. The scenery is beautiful, and we even saw people paragliding. They will also check your tickets on the way down, so make sure not to lose them. We visited on September 10th.
The scenery is beautiful, and the ropeway makes it easy to get around. From there, it's just a 1.5-hour walk to Happo-ike Pond for stunning views.
I used this during Japan's long holiday in early October. Although buying tickets on Klook was a bit cheaper, I still had to wait in line at the counter to exchange them for physical tickets before I could ride the cable car.
Exchange your voucher for a physical ticket at the ticket counter first; it's more cost-effective than buying on-site! It's convenient and fast! You can take three cable car rides to Happo-ike Sanso (Happo Pond Mountain Hut), then start your 1.5-hour hike to Happo Pond.
smooth and fuss free redemption, highly recommended. cheaper to buy on Klook than in the spot. it would have been nicer if the weather was better.
Bought the passes on the spot knowing that it’s cheaper than buying at the ticket counter and got the confirmation almost instantly. Recommend to visit this scenic place as well.
