Purple Mountain Observatory

The cradle of modern Chinese astronomy, a national key cultural relics protection unit, and one of the first batch of China's 20th-century architectural heritage sites. Visitors can see national treasure-level ancient astronomical instruments from the Ming and Qing dynasties (armillary spheres, simplified armillary spheres, celestial globes, etc.), a 60-centimeter reflecting telescope imported from Germany in 1934, the Astronomical History Exhibition Hall, a solar chromosphere telescope (solar flares can be observed when the weather is good), and ascend Tianbao City to overlook the panoramic view of Nanjing.
