The best time to visit Toucheng Township is from April to June and September to November for warmer beach weather with fewer extremes than midsummer. Guishan Island boat schedules and sea conditions can vary, so check availability before booking.

Take a Taiwan Railways train from Taipei to Toucheng Station, or travel by bus from Taipei to Yilan and transfer locally. Driving from Taipei via National Freeway 5 is fast outside weekend and holiday traffic.

Use trains for main stops such as Toucheng and Wai'ao, then taxis, bicycles, scooters, or local buses for beaches and viewpoints. For Guishan Island or whale watching, book a licensed boat tour that states the departure pier and check-in time clearly.

Stay near Toucheng Station for old street access and rail convenience. Wai'ao is best for beach stays, surf lessons, and sea-view cafes. Jiaoxi is a practical nearby alternative if you want more hotel choices and hot spring resorts while visiting Toucheng by train or taxi.
