Alor Setar

The best time to visit Alor Setar is from December to March, when rainfall is generally lower and conditions are more comfortable for city walks and paddy-field views. April to June can be hot, while the wetter months are better planned with flexible indoor museum stops.

You can fly to Sultan Abdul Halim Airport, take KTM train services to Alor Setar, or travel by express bus from Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Ipoh, or other northern Malaysian cities. Drivers can reach the city via the North-South Expressway.

The central heritage area is fairly easy to explore by taxi, ride-hailing car, or short walks between key landmarks. For the Paddy Museum, airport, and ferry transfer points, use a ride-hailing car, taxi, or private vehicle.

City Centre: Best for Zahir Mosque, Alor Setar Tower, Pekan Rabu, and heritage sightseeing. Near Aman Central: Convenient for shopping, food, and modern hotels. Airport or Highway Areas: Useful for short stays, road trips, or early flights.
