Sukhothai Province

Sukhothai, meaning "Dawn of Happiness," was the first capital of Thailand and the birthplace of the country's rich cultural heritage. During the reign of King Ramkhamhaeng the Great, this land reached its peak of development, inventing the Thai alphabet and laying the foundations of art, religion, and government that continue to this day.
