The best time to visit Srinagar is from April to June for gardens, lake views, and pleasant weather, or September to October for autumn colors. December to February is colder and best for travelers combining Srinagar with snow activities in Gulmarg.

Most travelers arrive by air at Srinagar International Airport, with flights from major Indian cities. Road access is possible from Jammu via the national highway, but travel time and conditions can vary, especially in winter or during heavy rain.

Use taxis, private cars, auto-rickshaws for short trips, and shikaras on Dal Lake. A private driver is recommended for Mughal gardens, viewpoints, airport transfers, and day trips to nearby valleys.

Dal Lake is best for houseboats, lake views, and shikara access. Boulevard Road is convenient for first-time visitors who want hotels near the lake. Rajbagh and Lal Chowk are practical for city access and shopping, while Nigeen Lake is quieter and more relaxed.
