Magong

The best time to visit Magong City is from April to June and September to October, when the weather is warm and better for island activities. Winter is cooler and very windy, while July and August are hot and busy with summer travel.

Fly to Penghu Airport near Magong from Taipei, Taichung, Tainan, Kaohsiung, or other Taiwan airports, or take ferries from ports such as Budai or Kaohsiung depending on season and route. Flights are the fastest and most reliable option for most visitors.

Scooters are the most popular way to get around Magong and Penghu’s main island, while taxis, car rentals, buses, and tour transfers are also available. Boat tours are needed for many offshore islands.

Stay in central Magong for restaurants, tour pickups, old street access, and nightlife. Beach areas such as Shanshui are better for a quieter seaside stay, while airport-side hotels are practical for early flights.
