Reviews
Very glad we decided to book this tour, despite it being optional during the season we went. Our guide, Yoshida-san, was very knowledgeable and sharp, helping us spot wildlife and shared many fun facts about the animals, the forests and the lakes as hiked through the trail. Most importantly, even though it was the off-peak, it is still bear country (we even saw a bear on the ride in), and Yoshida-san ensured that we were safe throughout the trip. He was well equipped with all the necessary equipment, and ensured everyone abided to all the safety regulations throughout the hike. Would highly recommend booking a tour with them! The only unfortunate thing is the weather was bad on the day of our booking, and most of the mountain ranges were obscured by the clouds :(
The pick-up and drop-off service to almost any Shiretoko Ann Hotel is very convenient. Guide Yoshida-san provides great explanations about various places even during transit. When guiding us in the forest, he explains a lot of things and keeps the participants engaged with occasional jokes. Even though I was the only Korean, he used a translator to let me know important information. If you've studied some Japanese, the quality of the experience will be much better. Of course, even if you don't understand, you'll be overwhelmed by the scenery in the forest. lol
Excellent half-day tour. Pickup from Shiretoko Dai-ichi Hotel was punctual, followed by a short 20-minute drive to the Shiretoko Goko Lakes Park Service Centre. After a safety briefing, we began a beautiful walk through the park. Although the tour was conducted mainly in Japanese, the guide kindly translated the explanations into English for me. The scenery was stunning, and the entire experience was smooth, professional, and enjoyable.
We were picked up from our hotel, and our group included three Japanese guests, three Chinese guests, the two of us (Koreans), and our Japanese guide. We explored the forest together, and the other members of the group were so great. Our guide was fluent in English, so it was easy to understand everything. It was a truly wonderful experience and the most fun we had during our trip to eastern Hokkaido. I highly recommend this tour! I'm so glad that Japan has this natural heritage and preserves it, giving me the opportunity to see it. I'm grateful to both nature and Japan.
This was a fantastic guided tour. Although the explanations were mainly in Japanese, the guide and the Japanese participants were very considerate. They used English or Chinese explanation boards to point out the highlights of the tour for me. I was so happy to see the clear Shiretoko Five Lakes and the continuous mountain peaks on July 17th. I also gained a lot of ecological knowledge (brown bear footprints and the pits they made). I also witnessed the Japanese people's dedication to environmental protection. Another part that impressed me was that when signing in and during the briefing, we were constantly reminded that "safety is your own responsibility" and "we are visiting the creatures that live there, this is their home," which is so important.
It was great. Shiretoko National Park is really pretty and crazy!!! Especially if you are a backpacker, you absolutely must use it. (For reference, the tour starts with the guide driving you from Utoro Onsen Station to Shiretoko National Park / Where is Utoro Onsen Station? Get off at Shiretoko Shari Station (JR Senmo Main Line) and take the bus right in front. It is about 50 minutes. If you type Utoro Onsen on Google, it will come up.)
able to see the nice view of the lakes. the guide was experienced and able to show us various nature.
Tour guide is very helpful. Everything is arranged very good. Personally, I recommend.
An unforgettable experience! The tour guide's attitude was very good. Although I don't understand Japanese, the tour guide communicated with me in simple English and worked very hard to explain everything to me during the process. I highly recommend this itinerary! 👍👍👍😜😜😜
The itinerary is rich, the scenery is picturesque, and there is something for everyone to see. The trails in the national park are very good, and the leaders take good care of it. I can definitely recommend it to everyone.
