Reviews
1. Location: Situated in the mountains, accessible by car or via a dedicated bus from Queenstown (round trip NZD 44). A timetable is available, and the bus departs once all passengers have arrived. 2. Equipment: Equipment can be rented from the city office the day before or on the mountain the same day, although on-mountain rentals may involve a longer wait. Renting in the city ➡️ snowboards can be stored at the office and picked up the next morning before boarding the bus; other items like boots and hats must be taken with you. (The staff are very friendly.) 3. Experience: The ski field is large, preventing overcrowding and ensuring a good skiing experience. The Mandarin-speaking instructors are professional and patient, providing attentive lessons. Beginners can learn basic skiing techniques and successfully ski down the longest slope.
This package includes access to many facilities! The staff at the ski rental shop are also very friendly! The ski equipment and snowsuits were odorless and very warm. The experience of skiing at Cardrona was fantastic! The instructors were very kind and always encouraging, even when we weren't skiing well! However, Klook didn't clearly state where to meet the instructors after arriving at the ski resort. We waited for almost 20 minutes after getting off the bus, and only after asking a staff member did we find out that we had to find the orange beginner flag to gather, and classes wouldn't start until 10:30! I hope Klook can improve this! I give the ski resort a very high rating, exceeding 5 stars. But I think Klook's platform needs improvement! And to notify that tickets are sold out two days after someone's credit card has been charged?
This package is quite a good value for money. It includes almost all the equipment for skiing though excluding goggles and helmet. It is better to collect the equipment one day before the activity at the store in Queenstown.
We took the clothing, gear at the shop in Queenstown. The procedure was smooth, the staff here were friendly and helpful for fitting. Highly recommend to take the equipment the day before skiing because thousand of people on the base camp waiting to take the equipment, quite waste some of time when you choose to take the equipment at the base camp.
it was so easy to book, staff were great in getting our rental gear. a bit confused on when we got to the mountain where to go for our lesson but was a great day out
Snowbords at Cardrona was such an amazing experience! The instructors were all super friendly. Even though we didn’t ski very well, they kept encouraging us the whole time! Our Mandarin coach, Tyler Ding, was especially patient — I’d give him 10 stars if I could! There are hot meals sold at the ski resort, but they’re a bit pricey. They also sell coffee and offer free hot chocolate, hot water, and cold water. However, there aren’t many seats inside the restaurant, so be prepared to have lunch outside! The shuttle bus ride was also smooth and comfortable! The staff at the gear rental shop were also amazing — super friendly! The ski jackets and pants were really warm and didn’t have any bad smell at all! The only downside was that we had requested a Mandarin-speaking instructor, but no one told us where to wait. We ended up waiting at the bus stop for about 20 minutes. Eventually, we walked into the ski area ourselves and asked a staff member, and that’s when we learned that beginners need to look for the orange flag, gather there, and wait for the lesson to start at 10:30 AM. We really hope KLOOK can provide clearer instructions for this part in the future!
While you can rent equipment in the city in advance, it's quite inconvenient to transport it. The shuttle doesn't have a direct stop at the Cardrona office in Queenstown; you have to carry your gear for about 6 minutes to reach the office, which has a red Cardrona sign. However, if you choose to rent equipment on the mountain, there's a good chance they might not have your size. Doe, the instructor, is very professional and attentive. With only four students in a class, everyone receives personalized attention, and the instruction is adjusted to each person's progress, providing excellent emotional support! The shuttle drivers take attendance to ensure everyone is on board. If you need to go down the mountain early due to injury, remember to tell the driver, or everyone will be waiting for you – for just 10 minutes! Finishing the lesson at 3:45 PM and trying to catch the 4:00 PM shuttle will be too rushed, so it's recommended to tell the instructor to let you leave at 3:30 PM. There are no paid lockers; everyone just puts their bags on the floor next to their spot, so don't bring anything valuable. The restaurant has free hot water for making instant noodles, but it's recommended to bring food that's ready to eat, or you won't have time to wait in line for the restroom.
Good experience for first timers for skiing. Pro-tip - collect your ski equipment at the Base stations in Queenstown or Wanaka the day before to prevent the onslaught and rush of people on Cardrona the day itself. Also, bring cup noodles and or small food for lunch, the crowd in the dining hall is ridiculous
The price is reasonable, the instructor is very professional and teaches carefully, and the equipment is complete. It is recommended that beginners practice basic inline skating in China first, as it is easier to learn and get started.
It’s great to have Chinese courses and the teaching is very clear, but during student holidays, the magic carpet has to be queued for a long time. In fact, the number of times you can skate is limited. Renting the equipment in Queenstown first will save a lot of time.
