New Taipei Wulai | Jiajiuliao River Natural Waterslide Canyoning Experience

Took a taxi (Uber) from Da'an for $30USD to reach the meeting point 1 hour away. Andrew was our tour guide for the day and immediately he gave off the friendly and enthusiastic energy to kick start the day. Change into the wetsuit, shgoes, lifejackets and helmet as provided and off we went for our river hike. The whole experience was unique and challenging as on that day the water level and flow was higher than expected but that didn't stoppped us from pushing through thanks to the Andrew's guidance and encouragement. Overall, it was money well spent and we managed to experience a slice of Taipei's nature.

Canyonning experience is super fun! Everything needed are provided. Coaches are very friendly, experienced, thoughtful and patience!! They will emsure intensity suits everyone.

I’m very unsatisfying with the equipment especially the footwear where 2 of us got stones in the shoes all the times so the river trekking was very uncomfortable. It became 6 hours in pain due to bad and worn out equipment. Two participants had wetshoes with holes. My husband’s shoe had a big hole on the left side so the rock kept slipping in during the whole trip. My son’s right shoe was even worse. The entire front was torn apart and flapped and big stones and small kept getting stuck inside the shoes and he endured some of the pain during the whole trip - they both had to stop several times to remove stones which got stock in the soles. The company has the responsibility to check and ensure the quality of the wet suit equipment but this was not the case here. Not to mention that the company forgot chopsticks for the hot instant noodle lunch and it was solved with using branches from trees as a stick to eat the noodles. Never mind that we improvised and smiled about this but providing wetshoes with holes greatly affected two persons from our group’s comfort and deteriorated the entire experience. On top of all this one suit had big holes on legs, another person suffered in shoes where the zipper kept opening wide up because the zipper was broken.
