About time difference: Xinjiang has a 2-hour time difference with inland areas, so you need to adapt to the living habits. Lunch time is 14:00-15:00, and it gets dark between 21:30-22:00. Hotel breakfast usually starts at 8:30, lunch time is 13:00-14:30, and dinner is around 19:30-20:30.
About climate: Xinjiang has a large temperature difference between day and night. The continental semi-arid climate is typical of Xinjiang. It's typically "hot during the day, cold at night." Taxian has a higher altitude, so the temperature will be a bit lower. You should prepare a softshell jacket or a thick coat. Sun protection: Xinjiang's ultraviolet rays are very strong, so be sure to prepare sun protection equipment in advance. Sunscreen with SPF 50+ is recommended. After arriving in Xinjiang, your body will need a lot of hydration, especially for women. In the plains of Southern Xinjiang, such as Kashgar and Shache, it's dry, hot, and windless, with temperatures between 20~35 degrees Celsius. The Pamir Plateau is around 0~20 degrees Celsius. The weather is changeable (temperatures can drop at any time).
Dressing guide Outerwear: Mainly short sleeves in summer, with a few thin jackets. One softshell jacket or thick coat (temperatures may drop suddenly in high-altitude areas). Pants: Shorts, summer long pants, and skirts are main. Bring a thicker pair of pants and thermal underwear (temperatures may drop suddenly in high-altitude areas). About altitude: The altitude of Taxian in Southern Xinjiang is around 3000+ meters, Baisha Lake is 3300 meters, Muztagh Ata Glacier Park is 4688 meters, and Mujihuo Volcano is 3680 meters. If you experience altitude sickness, it is not recommended to participate, or you should carry high-altitude medication and oxygen equipment.
About ethnic minorities: Southern Xinjiang has many ethnic minorities. On this trip, we mainly have Uyghurs, Tajiks, and Kyrgyz. Ethnic minorities have strong religious beliefs, and there are many religious ceremonies among Xinjiang's ethnic minorities. Please do not intentionally stop to watch or overly focus on their personal behavior during the trip. If you want to take photos of ethnic minorities, you must get their permission first. Taxian's conditions are relatively backward in all aspects. We can prepare some stationery to give to the local children, who are all very friendly.
About dining: 1. Xinjiang's staple food is mainly pasta. Xinjiang's lamb is mainly mutton, which has no gamey smell and tender meat. Many tourists fall in love with the lamb here. 2. For lunch every day, there are various dining options in the scenic area, or you can bring your own self-heating food or snacks like naan. About network tips: Xinjiang has 4G-5G networks, but signals are poor in remote areas. Also, network security is highly valued in Xinjiang, so you cannot log in to foreign websites.
About border passes: Xinjiang is located in the western border of China. Taxkorgan in Southern Xinjiang, China's westernmost point, and Mujihuo Volcano require border passes. Starting from 2026, border passes can be processed online. Open the Immigration Bureau 12367 mini-program, and the operation process is as follows.
