Taitung: DIY Wooden Pen Experience

This was a very enriching experience! Even though I don't speak Mandarin, Syong Zan was able to adapt to me. He was very kind, patient, and a great teacher. It was an excellent time that will leave you with both memories and gifts!

I had some free time, so I booked this course because I thought it would be fun to learn how to make my own pen. Location: It is located just outside the city and can be reached by a bus that leaves the bus station every hour. Teacher: The teacher was very friendly and helped guide me through the process. As I can't speak Chinese, we used translators to overcome the language barrier. Experience: The experience included turning wood on a lathe, polishing, and assembling all the parts. Safety: The main tool used to make the pen is a small wood lathe. The teacher demonstrates the correct technique for safely using the lathe. Equipment: You will be provided with woodworking tools, safety glasses, ear muffs and an apron. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would recommend doing it if you have the time.

Highly recommended DIY activity. 1. The owner is very meticulous in explaining and introducing the concepts and techniques of woodworking and crafting. 2. The activity allows for customization from selecting the wood, to the weight of the pen, and the thickness of the writing. The wood is shaped from a long cylinder into a round cylinder, and then polished. 3. The owner's wife also provides careful assistance and takes photos. 4. Finally, a pen case and small tools are provided. Overall, the entire experience is excellent and highly recommended.
