What to expect
This 90-minute experience at Tekapo Springs near Lake Tekapo combines guided stargazing with storytelling from the ancestors of Aotearoa, offering a unique blend of astronomy and cultural insight. Guests can explore planets, galaxies, and stars through telescopes in clear weather, or enjoy a customised indoor virtual reality tour with individual headsets if conditions aren’t suitable, featuring 360-degree star imagery and custom artwork that brings constellations to life. The experience concludes with exclusive use of the 38°C hot pool, allowing visitors to relax and stargaze in comfort, whether under the real night sky or in the immersive VR environment

It is a super great experience to soak in the hot spring while appreciating the starry night.
The Stargazing experience was not that great according to me. It could have been much better. The Hot Pools was a good session on the other hand, very relaxing.
Cloudy night at Tekapo stargazing tour dashed our outdoor sky hopes, so they handed out VR headsets as expected. The VR experience was boring and amateurish—could’ve just projected it on a wall for the same low-effort stars, just with bulky headsets. This is followed by hot pool soak, super relaxing — we get a robe, bring your swimmers!
