Reviews
The 45-minute guided tour at the Tekapo petting zoo is a fun and interactive experience, especially since entry includes one box of feed per person. The animals—including Merino sheep, alpacas, KuneKune pigs, and calves—are incredibly cute, friendly, and affectionate as you hand-feed them. Just make sure to listen carefully to the guide's instructions at the start for everyone's safety. The only downside is that the tour groups can get quite crowded, sometimes reaching up to 20 people at once.
It was so cute and I was really satisfied. You can interact directly with the sheep and cows right next to you. However, there aren't any safety measures, so it might be a bit difficult for babies.
The tour lasted about 45 minutes. Our tour guide Cody first fed the animals, then took us around the farm and explained some knowledge about farm animals. It was very interesting. But remember to wear dark clothing and shoes, as animals can get too excited and pounce on you.
We had the absolute best time visiting! The guide was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and shared so many fun facts that made the visit both educational and engaging. The animals were all so tame, clean, and ridiculously cute. Hand-feeding them was a breeze and perfectly safe. Highly recommend!
Because it happened to snow, the experience was fantastic. The animals were very friendly, and the staff were great too.
Super cute animals! If you want to experience being surrounded by sheep, you absolutely have to come here! This is my first time interacting so closely with these animals in New Zealand.
Highly recommend the Lake Tekapo Petting Zoo experience! It’s a quick 30 minutes but so worth it. Our guide, Joy, was awesome – she gave us a warm introduction to all the animals and even offered to help us take photos. A fun and memorable stop for anyone visiting Tekapo!
our wonderful farm guide was Benzi who was very friendly and knowledgeable on the animals in the farm! end of the tour, Ben presented us with postcards of the farm and animals.
