What to expect

Wuhou Shrine is located at 231 Wuhouci Avenue, Wuhou District, Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China, 5 kilometers from the city center and more than 20 kilometers from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport. It is the only temple in China dedicated to both a monarch and his ministers, a national first-class museum, and a national 4A-level tourist attraction. The temple covers an area of 150,000 square meters and, as a “core heritage site of the Three Kingdoms culture,” it has been famous for thousands of years for commemorating Zhuge Liang, Liu Bei, and the heroes of the Shu Han Dynasty. Here, red walls line the paths, ancient cypresses tower to the sky, and the stele corridors are secluded. Inscriptions from the Tang, Ming, and Qing dynasties reflect the wisdom and loyalty of these historical figures, earning it the reputation as a “sacred place of Three Kingdoms culture and the city’s spiritual totem.” It is often said that “a trip to Chengdu is incomplete without visiting Wuhou Shrine,” highlighting the eternal charm of the spirit of Zhuge Liang throughout history. The shrine houses treasured cultural relics such as Yue Fei’s handwritten stone inscription of the Chu Shi Biao (Memorial to the Throne) and a gold-plated statue of Liu Bei in the main hall. The garden offers a panoramic view of the stunning fusion of architecture, gardens, and epic history. Book now through KLOOK to enjoy the best deals on tickets!

Review for: Ticket + 1.5-Hour Mandarin Guided Tour (Afternoon)

Zhu, our tour guide, is very dedicated and passionate. Those interested in the history of the Three Kingdoms will find it very engaging. However, he spent a little too much time on the Three Kingdoms stories, creating a slight imbalance in the tour. Also, it can be a bit tiring to walk, stand, and listen, especially when there are many tourists.

The guide was just normal. She explained things in an in-depth manner but could have provided a more personal touch, like offering to help to take photos rather than asking

without the tour guide, the shrine’s rich history still can be appreciated, but would be much less.

The guide I met on site only spoke Chinese. The product name is 'Korean Commentary,' which leads me to believe that I would be touring with a guide who could provide Korean commentary, but this is clearly a problem. The guide realized on site that I couldn't understand Chinese and seemed embarrassed. I considered canceling and repurchasing just the admission ticket, but I thought the guide wouldn't want to deal with the hassle of resolving the situation, so I just entered and told the guide that I would look around on my own and left. I paid about double the admission fee expecting a Korean tour, and I think the place that planned the product incorrectly should refund the difference, excluding the admission fee.
