Family Express Train Private Cabin The sleeper train from Hanoi to Lao Cai is actually the same train; the only difference lies in the cabin class and services offered by various operating companies. ✨ This time, we chose the Family Express Train (because it was genuinely affordable 🤗). 👉 Private cabin (for 2 people) 💰 Total RM480.22 This means for approximately RM240 per person, you can lie down and sleep all the way to Lao Cai. 🚂 The cabin was clean, the air conditioning was sufficiently cold, and there was complimentary water, beer, soda, small snacks, and bananas. Sleep on the train, and wake up just in time to explore Sapa! ⛰️ · 🚽 The restroom was very clean, but you cannot shower!
Tonight, we're taking the 10:40 PM sleeper train to Sa Pa. Therefore, we specifically rented our accommodation from the original landlord for an extra half-day, so that we would have a place to rest and freshen up in the afternoon until we boarded the train. Around 9:30 PM, we called a Grab to take us to Hanoi Railway Station. The station staff saw that we had arrived early and asked if we wanted to switch to the 10:00 PM train! There are five of us, split into 4 women + 1 man, into two rooms. The sleeper experience is very new and the children love it. There are also sockets on the train to charge your devices! It's not bad to arrive in Sa Pa earlier either. So, we boarded the 10:00 PM sleeper train. Since there are only four beds in a cabin, we split up 4+1. That is, the four daughters in one room, and me in a room with a stranger. I'll have to wear my pants tight tonight XD.
The booking process, from application to confirmation, was very smooth. The pricing structure was also very clear, and I appreciated the wide range of options available. I was considering the Chapa Express but chose the Family Express because it was more affordable. I don't think there's any significant difference in the interior compared to the Chapa Express. Since I was traveling alone, I booked a shared cabin. I was a bit anxious until the day of travel because I couldn't choose between an upper or lower berth when booking, but I was relieved to be assigned a lower berth. My cabin mates seemed to have a hard time getting in and out of the upper berth. It would be even better if I could select my seat when making the reservation.
it felt like i was transported to hogwarts! i was lucky enough to met 3 china girls and we were able to chit chat for the night before turning in. the toilet was great ambuence was lovely but downside was the sleeping area is very cramp esp if you are on the upper deck. thankfully i was comfy enough to chill with them at the lower deck before heading in for the night! 10/10! Highly reco ppl to try the train experience
I booked a twin room and it was much cleaner and more comfortable than I expected. The bed was cozy, and since I’m not a light sleeper, I had a good night’s rest. transport included: They also offered free snacks and beer, which I really enjoyed. Overall, I had a great stay and would love to come back again!
We booked a private cabin and had a good overall experience. The 8.5-hour ride was long and a bit noisy and shaky, so sleeping was tough (earplugs we brought helped). Drinks were at room temperature, but the fresh banana provided was nice for breakfast. After arriving at Lao Cai station, we took a 55k shuttle to Sapa town (about 45–60 minutes). It’s a shared shuttle, not a hotel drop-off, but still convenient. Overall, we’d recommend this train company as their private cabin rates are cheaper than others.
A good experience to travel by train... We arrived at Lao Cai station and crossing border to Hekou, China for half day trip and back to Vietnam.
if you like train travel. then you will like it. almost 8 hours from sapa to hanoi. they give banana and chips free very comfortable cabin.
redemption guide: just book here & present the voucher upon entering the train station, they will assist you to your assigned cabin. please arrive 30mins before departure time because trains leave on time. price: very good deal! we had the whole shared cabin. aircon - working!, wifi - working! comfort room - clean & no bad smell ! definitely would recommend! 100 💯 💯 💯
good accomodation. cabin is in a good condition. they also provide with free mineral water and some snacks for you to munch during the trip. they also sell other snack and hot food inside the train. true to their word. don’t forget to bought their shuttle to your hotel which is more cheaper than taking grab.
