Kaohsiung FunPASS

We booked this 1-day Kaohsiung Fun Pass for a last-minute, spontaneous day trip. We didn’t have time to reserve any day tours or private drivers, so this pass ended up being incredibly handy! It is completely digital and activated through the Taiwan Fun Pass app. It is super convenient because you just use the app's QR code to hop on buses and trains, and to get easy access into the tourist spots. The app is also really helpful because it gives you a full list of the available attractions so you know exactly what your options are for the day. To be completely honest, if you aren't planning to pack your schedule and use the pass to its fullest, it might be just as cost-effective to DIY and pay at the counter. But if you value convenience and want to avoid the hassle of buying individual tickets or fumbling for commute fares, this is definitely worth it. It’s so nice to just pull up the QR code and go!

For a personalized itinerary, I suggest starting the morning with DIY chess cakes - advance reservations are required (driving is convenient with parking available near the Chess Cake Cultural and Creative Hall on Zuoying Xia Road, metered parking at 22.6835120, 120.2932941). You can explore Lotus Pond nearby. After lunch, visit the Lizhi Art Museum; the entrance ticket can be used for parking. In the afternoon, head to Pier-2 Art Center to exchange for the Dragon and Tiger pair of cups, enjoy Sunny Hills pineapple cakes, see the Christmas tree at Warehouse No. 2, and explore the entire Pier-2 (you can take the light rail; roadside parking on Gongyuan Road is mostly metered from Monday to Thursday). Finally, take a gondola ride on the Love River. If you have the energy, visit the Christmas tree at Central Park. Driving is more convenient for the chess cake and Lizhi Museum, while taking the MRT will be a bit more complicated. However, a single ticket to the Lizhi Museum costs $350, but the Kaohsiung One-Day Fun Card is currently buy-one-get-one-free for $780, making it a very good deal.

worth it for us, because we planned our itinenary to use it to the max. Since we only have 48-hours for the unlimited transportation, we decided to plan most of it on the first two days. DAY 1 : aviation education exhibition hall; DAY 2 : pier 2 day; DAY 3 : sunfong temple facilities: my brother uses a wheelchair and most of the transportation we used & facilities we went to can cater him EXCEPT sunfong temple.

The Kaohsiung Enjoy Card is a great deal! It includes a free day of riding the MRT and Light Rail. I took the Love River Love Boat, which had a tour guide. I even saw Ultraman! I had lunch at Wave Restaurant, and I was lucky enough to get a reservation the same day. The food was quite delicious and the service was good. I went to Jingyuan to see the animals. The animals seemed to be in good condition, but the park was a little small. You can watch planes take off and land. It's a pity that there is an extra $100 charge during the Lunar New Year.

Highly recommend this for DIY travelers! The 2-day unlimited ride pass is very high value. We spent one day exploring the creative warehouses at Pier-2 and the next day enjoying the seafood and coastal views at Cijin Island. It’s very easy to use—you just scan and go. It saved us both time and money. Pro-tip: Use it for the Light Rail to get the best views of the harbor!

Kaohsiung citizens playing tourist for a day: 1. The Li-Tze Museum is truly wonderful; the exhibits are all exquisite. 2. There are quite a few animals to see at Jing Yuan, but unfortunately, the area for viewing planes is overgrown with weeds, full of mosquitoes, and the drinks aren't very good, which is a bit of a shame. 3. The yacht tour around Kaohsiung Harbor offers rich commentary and is an experience worth trying.

Being able to freely ride the bus/Kaohsiung MRT/light rail/coaches within 48 hours is really convenient; the itinerary includes a boat trip on the Love River/DIY chess cakes/taking the ferry/eating ice cream/afternoon tea at a restaurant. The partner stores are all great, it's really great value.

Buy one get one free is especially worthwhile, Kaohsiung's transportation is smooth and unobstructed, including the MRT, light rail, and bus, and also includes round-trip ferry tickets to Cijin. You can visit all 5 attractions in 3 days, and there are souvenirs too, super awesome 👍 Each Funpass has a QR code, which can be converted and used in the app, so you need a data internet connection. You need to open the app and scan the code to redeem attraction tickets and souvenirs.
