What to expect
After the famous restaurant “Sakurada” in Kyoto closed, a restaurant called “Wako Izumi” was opened on its original location in 2016. This is a popular two-Michelin-star Japanese restaurant that inherits the tradition of “Sakurada” smell. The dishes here do not need to be too showy, but allow you to experience the beauty of the four seasons through the five senses. They are full of “Japanese style” characteristics and are very popular among foreign tourists. The store goes to the producers in person to communicate with them and only purchases ingredients that complement the cuisine. The restaurant has the atmosphere of a traditional Kyoto machiya, with different seating arrangements such as a bar, dining tables, and tatami seats. It is decorated with scroll paintings, raw flowers, and utensils ranging from living national treasures to modern artists, complementing the food, and creating a “different atmosphere” throughout the seasons. “Japanese style” atmosphere. Please enjoy the essence of Japanese cuisine that inherits the traditional taste and emotion of a famous restaurant.

Reviews
I made a reservation at this location through Klook, which advertised it as a two-star Michelin restaurant. My friend and I were eager to experience the Kaiseki, especially given the high expectations set by its rating. While the server was pleasant and accommodating, the food itself was disappointing. I strongly advise against booking a reservation here, as I have dined at other establishments that have consistently exceeded my expectations. Most of the dishes were inconsistent, lacking any remarkable or innovative qualities. In my opinion, Michelin should reassess this restaurant's two-star status. Additionally, I experienced an unfortunate incident after my meal that I hope is not common for other diners.
Very good, met the chef of the store 👩🏻🍳, it is worth recommending!
