Sydney Port Stephens Full-Day Guided Tour with Dolphin Watching

Newcastle is quite far from Sydney, so we need to gather at 7:30 AM to depart. We'll stop at the first beach for about an hour. Dolphin watching is on a boat for an hour and a half, but you really only see dolphins for a brief moment; the rest of the time is spent searching, searching, searching. I feel like dolphin watching wasn't worth it. Finally, there's a mandatory 5 AUD service tip to give to the driver. The driver is Chinese and has WeChat. If you don't have AUD in change, you can directly transfer RMB via WeChat at the current exchange rate.

I didn't read the booking details carefully enough and didn't realize it didn't include sandboarding. No big deal, I paid AUD 43 per person. The driver, who was also our guide, said we'd have 40 minutes for sandboarding, but he took us there at a snail's pace. By the time we got to the sandboarding location, we only had 7 minutes left. Because there were only three of us sandboarding, the driver didn't seem too keen on us doing it. He even told us not to get his car dirty and to clean the sand off before getting back in. In the end, we only got two slides each before we had to rush back to the car. He seemed a bit annoyed because we were slightly late. But we spent an hour and a half eating. And only got such a short time for sandboarding. Afterwards, I checked other websites. Other local English tours offer an hour and a half. I advise everyone to read the details carefully before booking. If possible, try to book an English tour. There's a big difference in the activities. The price including sandboarding is almost HKD 1200. It's really worth comparing the itineraries. The guide really just drove the car. There was basically zero explanation, we had to ask everything ourselves.
