Guide
- Xi'an Banpo Museum was built in 1957 on the Banpo Site (a Neolithic Yangshao culture matriarchal clan tribal site dating back about 6,000 years). Here, it's like traveling through time, recreating the life scenes of our ancestors, and also learning about the unique burial system and simple pottery and painted art of the time.
- The museum is divided into residential areas, pottery-making areas, and burial areas. Compared with ordinary tourism value, the archaeological price here is higher. The Ruins Hall is the focus of the museum visit, which will give visitors a sense of time travel. The hall displays part of the residential area of the site and a pottery kiln. You can learn about the stories that happened thousands of years ago through the touch screen. The exhibition hall also uses electronic virtual and holographic imaging to reproduce the scene of the ancient Banpo ancestors creating a brilliant culture.
- There are special small exhibitions around the Ruins Hall, where you can see extremely rare burial systems. In the Banpo era, different burial methods were used for adults and children. Adults were buried in the common cemetery of the village after death, while children were generally buried in urn coffins and buried next to the houses. There is also a showroom on the side of the hall, where the Banpo cultural relics are displayed in a concentrated manner. You will be pleasantly surprised to find that the "Human-faced Fish Pattern Basin" (replica, the original is in the National Museum of China) that you have seen in textbooks since childhood is displayed here. The initial shape of the Fuwa for the 2008 Olympic Games was also influenced by it. The pottery and painted art of the Banpo people are simple and geometric.
