Reviews
I stayed in Greece for over a week, but visiting Meteora was the most memorable part. The hotel had a bathtub and was of sufficient quality. The food at the restaurants and service areas we stopped at along the way was also fine. It's far from Athens, but I highly recommend it.
A great two-day trip. The first day was to the Temple of Delphi and Thermopylae, and the second day started with a visit to the two largest monasteries in Meteora. At each attraction, our guide, Eirini Koumpoura, introduced us to its history, and even explained the content of the murals inside the monasteries. After visiting the monasteries, the guide also took us to a viewpoint on the mountain, where we could see the entire mountain range. It was a very good trip.
Guide was knowledgable and helpful. weather was too hot to really enjoy Delphi. The monasteries were beautiful. The hotel provided was comfortable and food provided was good too. Save the hassle of having to plan the trip ourselves so I feel it’s worth it.
The tour is well organised and in good pace, you can choose one of pickup locations near your hotel, we did have a short duration at the Delphi museum on the first day after the main site, lunch places they chose for us are decent, hotel in Kalaplaki was clean and safe, Metora tour was wonderful. Our guide Mariana was so knowledgeable and passionate about Greek and history and culture, we had a blast!
Day 1: 1.75 hrs stop @ Delphi. Tour guide Katerina was too slow, talked an hour and led us through only 1/4 of the path. Did not leave us enough time to explore the entire path and museum. Day 2: Tour guide Theodosia was great and led pleasant visits to 2 monasteries. 2.5 hrs at Holy Monastery of Varlaam and 1 hr at St. Stephans Holy Monastery. Once guided portion was done, we had plenty of time on our own to take pictures and use washroom before heading back to the bus. Also made 2 stops along the roadway to take pictures of few monasteries in distance. Bus driver Evan was good, safe and smooth. Rest stops were reasonably arranged along the way. Lodging (tourist class): We stayed at Hotel Orfeas room 319. Slow internet. Strange bathtub, difficult and dangerous trying to stand in it to shower. Everything else was ok. Food: Lunches at restaurants suggested was good. Buffet dinner and breakfast at our hotel was good with plenty of selections. Overall, it was a great trip!
We would like to thank our tour guide Yorgos and driver Vagelli for an amazing tour. Yorgos was very informative and very helpful in explaining the various places of interest to us. He has good knowledge of the history of the places and explains each detail very clearly. Our driver Vagelli was also very safe and timely, and helped us with our heavy baggage. Overall, I would recommend this trip.
Didn't get to experience Arachova, spent most of the time on the bus. Also, didn't stop at a viewpoint for photos, so couldn't capture the grandeur of Meteora. The only redeeming qualities were the professionalism of the tour guide and the fact that the hotel was one of the best in the area.
It was a great trip. The mountains of Meteora are really spectacular, and the monasteries standing on them are even more amazing! The personal experience is far more touching than the pictures.
Our tour guide, Christina, speaks excellent English and is the best!
Steavy was a great guide and made sure had fun and all the information even with the climate was not great on day 2.. the bus was clean and maintained and we had a great time through the trip. The breakfast covered at the hotel was not great but over all a good experience .
