Great hotel. Good location. Helpful staff.

Absolutely loved our stay at Yugen Kyoto Shijo — it has been our favorite hotel in Japan so far. The location was incredibly convenient and felt central to everything we wanted to do in Kyoto, while still maintaining a calm and relaxing atmosphere. The staff was outstanding throughout our stay: warm, welcoming, friendly, and very accommodating. Every interaction felt thoughtful and professional. The breakfast each morning was excellent and a great way to start the day. The rooms themselves were fantastic — beautifully designed, comfortable, and well-appointed with great amenities. You can tell a lot of care went into the overall design and experience of the hotel. The beds were especially comfortable after long days of exploring Kyoto. The hotel amenities were also exceptional. The gym was surprisingly great, and the public bath and sauna ended up being one of the highlights of our stay. It was such a relaxing treat to come back and unwind there each evening after walking all day around the city. Overall, we cannot recommend Yugen Kyoto Shijo highly enough. We would absolutely stay here again on a future trip to Kyoto.

One of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. They deliver breakfast to your room every morning which was delicious and an amazing touch. Staff were incredibly hospitable and the location cannot be beat. I'm never staying at a different hotel whenever I come to Kyoto

My husband and I enjoyed our stay here. The staff was extremely helpful and attentive. Their onsen was something we looked forward to at the end of our days. I would definitely stay here again.

Amazing designs (modern with a Japanese taste) great staff, clean rooms and excellent walkable location. The room sizes are huge considering the Japanese hotel tool standards. Will definitely come back!
