Tsuchiura All Japan Fireworks Competition The “Tsuchiura All Japan Fireworks Competition” is a traditional fireworks competition with a long history, and is not only one of Japan’s three major fireworks festivals, but also one of Japan’s three major competitive fireworks festivals. The fireworks festival began in 1925 when Umeho Akimoto, the chief priest of Shinryu-ji Temple in Tsuchiura City, held this grand fireworks display at his own expense on the shore of Lake Kasumigaura in order to revitalize the shopping district that had been devastated by the Great Kanto Earthquake. The Tsuchiura Fireworks Competition brings together many highly skilled pyrotechnicians, and is one of Japan’s top fireworks competitions in terms of quality and scale, a fantastic feast of light and sound. The competition is divided into the “Star Mine Section (fireworks barrage),” “No. 10 Ball Section,” and “Creative Fireworks Section,” and the winners will receive prestigious awards such as the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award. Among them, the best work in the three sections will receive the “Prime Minister’s Award,” which is the highest honor pursued by all Japanese pyrotechnicians.

Die Organisation war sehr gut. Die Tour beinhaltete Gruppensitzplätze und eine ungehinderte Sicht auf den Veranstaltungsort. Der Treffpunkt in Marunouchi war etwas schwer zu finden. Der Reiseleiter war pflichtbewusst und brachte alle so schnell wie möglich durch die überfüllten Straßen zum Veranstaltungsort. Ich würde wieder teilnehmen, wenn sich die Gelegenheit bietet.
