Everything about this stay from beginning to end was incredible. The service was top-tier and I felt so pampered. For being my first ryokan experience, it all felt amazing. The location was beautiful and the escort to the annex to the annex was very helpful. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a ryokan stay!

Our one night stay was very enjoyable. The food was great. The staff was English friendly which really helped with our very limited Japanese. One night is not long enough to enjoy the local attractions. I would recommend staying at least two nights so that you have a day to explore the temples and trails. We stayed in June and didn’t find a need to use the air conditioner. We slept with the doors open and fell asleep to the sound of the river below. Also, there are hot baths available for your use in the shower rooms for soaking…no charge for that. Or you can pay for a private bath.

Très belle expérience de ryokan authentique! Nous avons réservé la chambre Kamo pour avoir un onsen privé avec jardin et c'était très relaxant. Les lits n'étaient pas les plus confortables, mais la chambre était assez grande pour deux et avait même deux unités d'air climatisé. Le souper (kaiseki) près de la rivière offrait un décor unique et nous avons pu voir des lucioles (début juin). Le ryokan n'est pas très accessible en transport en commun, alors n'oubliez pas de réserver la navette gratuite.

This experience was amazing. The staff were amazing in every aspect, they make you feel like you are a king, very respectful, clean and helpful. Beautiful spot hidden in the nature, 100% recommend if you want an authentic Ryokan experience.

Great place. Communication is a little tough due to the language barrier. The gentleman they leave in charge overnight doesn’t know how to use the POS system so I was unable to buy a commemorative stamp for my stamp book before my super early check out (early flight). But I can honestly say I was amazed. The place is a Ghibli Studio film brought to life. As serene as you can imagine and the staff was super attentive. Truly a pleasure.
