Soraniwa Terrace Kyoto Bettei was the friendliest stay that we had in Japan. The folks at the hotel were super welcoming and the amenities in the room made it feel like home. The onsen in the room is a luxury unheard of elsewhere and is perfect after long days exploring Kyoto.

From check in to check out, our stay was the best hotel experience I have ever had in Japan and possibly in other countries as well. We were escorted to the private check in area and then to our room. The private onsen in our room overlooking the mountains was so good that I did not want to leave it. We also used the hotel onsen and loved the micro bubbles one.. the location was perfect. It is directly on the river and the main shopping road. We found great food in the area as well. We did not have to get into a car. We also walked to many attractions and sites. There is a nespresso machine and a well stocked minibar in room. The roof top foot soak was great. The sleepwear, bedding, pillows and robes (plural) were all excellent. Absolutely worth the upgrade to the Bettei side of the hotel.

Incredible hotel! Perfect location with an awesome rooftop terrace. Happy Hour from 4-6:30, free drinks. Can’t beat that. We chose a room with our own private onsen, which was incredible to relax in and enjoy the views. Great staff who were so accommodating. The restaurant, which offered a 10 course meal, was outstanding! Highly recommend staying here!

It was an awesome place. Location was perfect . Amenities and supplies were great . Everyone was friendly . View was beautiful from the rooftop bar . Onsen was super relaxing .

Beautiful room with traditional and modern Japanese influences. Beds very comfortable. Lovely staff. Laundry room and Onsen were really great. Bettei area of hotel had its own entrance/exit and lift, which made coming and going very quick and easy. Very convenient location.

One of the bestest hotels I’ve stayed in worldwide. We had a room with a private onsen attached. It was exceptionally well appointed and clean hotel. The views from the rooftop on Sun or exceptional. The staff even pointed out a private entrance that we could use to avoid traveling through the lobby. The room also came with a set of pajamas, plush robes, and yukatas.
