Leshan, located outside of Chengdu, offers a world of wonders both in the spiritual and culinary fields. Your day tour of this area begins with you departing Chengdu to head to the famous Leshan Giant Buddha via boat. Relax and enjoy the gentle current of the water and raise your eyes to this magnificent sculpture that seems to be emerging right out of the red rock. This 233-foot tall stone statue was built during the Tang Dynasty and is the tallest pre-modern statue in the world. After visiting this incredible sight, you head to Leshan itself, where you can sample some of the local dishes and snacks (at own expense). This gives you to learn the area by your stomach and get to know local tastes. You can stroll off your meal through a visit in the old district where you can see and study the old buildings, seeing hints to life back in the day. You can enjoy some more snacks and dishes before heading to see the Thousand Buddha Stone Carvings, one of the important religious and cultural sites of the area. Afterwards, you depart back for Chengdu.
