History buffs visiting Beijing shouldn't pass up the chance to see a piece of Chinese history. Northwest in Beijing lies the Old Summer Garden, also known as the Ruins of Yuanmingyuan. Built all the way in the Qing Dynasty in 1709, this massive pleasure garden has been a place of tranquility and enjoyment. Spanning 350 hectares, you might not even be able to cover it all. While many of the attractions around the garden were destroyed back in 1980, its the ruins that make the garden so ethereal.
