Mai is a Japanese Tea Ceremony teacher with over 16 years experience in the field. She explained the history and the way how Japanese tea ceremony works in detail. Highly recommend for those who would like to learn the traditional art and culture of Japan.
Great experience! I always wanted to experience a traditional tea ceremony and the experience did not disappoint. Unfortunately, I thought it was a bit expensive, but the experience was actually great. I learned a lot about the history and meaning of tea ceremonies and was even able to try making tea myself. The course was kept quite small with just 4 people, which I thought was great. We were able to choose our own cup and Nerikiri Wagashi (traditional Japanese sweets) to go with the Matcha tea; the selection depends on the month and the season. Filming and taking photos was allowed throughout and there were no restrictions, but you should not forget to enjoy the experience. At the end there was the option to buy the Matcha tea or the bamboo brush at a good price. I can definitely recommend the course to all tea enthusiasts, because it was worth it for me.
This is an amazing experience! The teachers are friendly and knowledgeable, and the clean, tidy environment enhance our understanding of Japanese traditional tea culture. I highly recommend this activity.
I was lucky enough to be the only one at the Tea ceremony today! Reina allowed me to take as many videos and pictures as I wanted and she also helped me take pictures of when I was doing the tea ceremony. The experience was very rewarding and educational- Reina went through the history of the Tea ceremony and explained that it was actually established in Osaka and not Kyoto. She also demonstrated the intricacies of the tea ceremony very elegantly! I would highly recommend you immerse yourself in some culture and enjoy the whole process from making to enjoying your own tea!
A very lovely little tea ceremony; the lady was very kind and friendly. She explained and demonstrated everything wonderfully, and then helped us do it ourselves.
A lovely experience bringing to life the history & meaning of the tea ceremony. The host spoke excellent English & had a very engaging manner. Very happy to recommend this experience 🙂
this was so nice. everyone was so sweet to my family and i. the tea and sweets were so delicious. i learned a lot about matcha’s history. the whole thing was very cool. my only complaint is that it wasn’t very easy to find and we only found it bc there was a line of others waiting. it could maybe be made clearer but it really didn’t have a negative impact on our experience.
location of the building was difficult to find. its opposite the street sign to Dontoubi Street. the experience was phenomenal. small group. intimate. Teacher was exceptional in English. very knowledgeable. enjoyed making my own tea and eating snack. you sit down on a mat for the entire time and climb 4 stairs to get to the room. its worth it.
it was a great experience! the host was very well versed in the topic and was giving great explanations :) would reccomend!
The tea ceremony was superb. The host gave us a history of how the tea ceremony came to be and even showed us how to properly prepare the matcha.
