We had a lot of fun. It was cheap and the instructor was kind and patient. The location was also easy to find. My only gripe is that it was all in Japanese so while we could understand and follow the demonstrations, we couldn’t understand the fascinating history behind what we were doing. Still, we had a good time and would recommend it! กิจกรรม:
Jun-ji (I hope I got this right) was an exceptional instructor! He seamlessly switched between English and Japanese, ensuring that everyone understood the lessons clearly. His teaching style was not only fun but also highly engaging, and he shared a wealth of knowledge. We had the opportunity to learn how to make delicate nerikiri sweets from bean paste, one inspired by a snowflake and the other by a local flower. We also learned the art of making matcha tea and practiced the proper etiquette for attending a traditional tea ceremony, from start to finish. It was truly a fun cultural experience, and Jun-ji made it all the more memorable! Thank you!
best thing to do in japan so sacred and very nice leave early as they are very strict with time in terms of starting it
Sensei is very patient with us! we had a great time learning how to make matcha and nerikiri. it’s located very closely to Higobashi metro station. would recommend anyone to join!
The tea ceremony and nerikiri making experience was truly memorable and beautifully done. The instructor explained each step clearly and shared insights into Japanese culture and traditions. Making nerikiri by hand was fun and relaxing, and the tea ceremony felt calm and authentic. It was a perfect cultural experience and a highlight of our trip in Japan.
A really lovely experience. Started with tradition sweet making, the teacher was very informative and interesting. Then a traditional matcha ceremony. Even though there was both Japanese and English speakers present, the teacher effortlessly explained everything in both languages. He showed us how the matcha is ground, then lead us through how it is made in a ceremony before we had a go ourselves. Incredible matcha, even better with the sweets. Really recommend both activities together
It felt like a private tour, since there were just two of us! The host kindly greeted us and taught us the ropes of making Japanese sweets, the meaning behind it, followed by brewing our own matcha. The host was very considerate to give us some private time at the end to enjoy the tea and the sweets. The workshop was held in simple Japanese, since we both didn't mind having an extensive listening practice, but the host actually offered the choice between English and Japanese. So if you have no command of Japanese, worry not, you still will be able to fully participate and enjoy the experience!
Teacher Masa personally greeted me downstairs. Even though others who signed up for the same time slot were late, he was punctual, patient, and friendly in his guidance.
That was a lovely time with Yoshi! He explained a lot about matcha and the whole ceremony of enjoying of this amazing drink. Absolutely worth it to spend next 30-40 minutes :)
Absolutely loved this! The chap was so friendly and kind, he didn’t speak much English, but he tried his absolute best and was asking us for names of the flowers in English so he could learn. Thoroughly enjoyed making the matcha and sweets. I went alone and didn’t find this daunting at all. Thank you!
